Conductivity and it's effects

Can I get some help with conductivity. We are running a Royce recirculating water system on a Ryobi 524 . What is the affect of conductivity on printing when it is with high or low? Is there range to work within? If running to high what happens? Just seem to be at a loss when discussing conductivity.

to make a long story short , the conductivity of the water has to do with the "wetness" of the water and the hardness of your solution. this will define how much surface you can cover with any drop of dampening solution , hence the amount of water (the less the better) you need to use in order to get to a stable yet correct nominal dens on your press.
if you get it wrong it can get you from a non stable setting to ink on your damps , water up your ink train and calcium all over your rollers.
conductivity is a main factor in getting it right on a fast multicolor press. if you are running a one color low speed press , you can piss in your water and yet get it right

No issue Junker , i have seen presses that run damp solution at a lower quality then a drunk man piss
and on a single color it worked
the space here is way too short to go in to detail on this issue , and it's results.

Just a small note to add, measure your conductivity at the start when you prepared fresh solution and make it a benchmark. When conductivity reaches 1000 uS/cm higher then the starting conductivity you should change your fountain solution and make new. This will help in reducing wastage and other problems on press.
