Can you help with how thick of concrete pad we should pour? We have a XL-105 6 color being installed first part of february. and im not sure what we should do. currently we have a speedmaster 102-6 on a 12" pad and have had no problems. Heidelberg is giving us zero guidance....We're leaning toward a 24" pad with rebars...what do you guys think? The press weighs 170,000 lbs!!!

Depending on the construction of the building, it´s your decision. Basement, min 10 cm. If it´s in first floor or higher be shure that the floor bearing cap. will be strong enough for machine and pad. Ask a construction engineer !!

24" with bars should be more than enough we normally recommend 18" barred

    little calculation: XL 105/6 length 16,5m, wide 4,0m - pad 20 x 5m= 100 sqm x .38m ( 15 inch ) x 2,4to/sqm(weight concrete) = 91to or 200620 lbs plus weight of press 170.000 = 371.000 lbs or 3710 lbs/sqm
    Are your floors strong enough?

Usually an engineer will take a core sample of the ground. Concrete and bars will vary based on the sample. 2ft of concrete on mush is just that.

Heidelberg does supply the weight of the equipment and the tolerances for level the floor must achieve at the pre-installation meeting. It is recommended a structural engineer of your choice is consulted with who specializes in concrete floors to determine what must be done to support the machine.

Core samples are typically taken by the engineer to determine the compaction of the soil in which the floor is to be laid. If your engineer has any questions as to any of the specifications of the equipment, Heidelberg will provide the answers as needed.
