Hi,
this is ronak from mumbai. i am planning to buy C1+ very soon. much excited but confused because this thread already said that duplex printing on papers is a problem. Yeah its true. I have seen the demo.Above 210gsm there are problems like
1) Manual Feeding of paper in the tray.
2) Manual flipping for Duplex printing.
3) Maximum 3 impressions in one minute that is 1.5 duplex. The speed factor you see.

Our main application is PhotoBooks, Coffeetable Books, Calendars.
In mumbai PhotoBooks oriented there are only 2 Labs using Digital Offset (All others use Convential Nortisu Photo Priting,Fuji Forntier etc). One uses HP Indigo 3050 and other Canon ImagePRESS 6000.
Price Factor is very important here.

A request to all using C1+. Please reply asap for
1) Quality
2) Problems occuring in general while printing
3) Solutions to general problems

1.) In my opinion as a user, C1 is a good quality digital press in just a fraction of the Indigo's Price. Our Fiery is just the default one but it already prints hi-quality results. If you get the next level Fiery (Q1 I think), and have it color calibrated, im sure the C1 will produce outstanding results.
2.) Problems we encountered so far are paper jamming and reverse printing.

For paper jamming, we discovered that you really should classify your media and input the correct one when the printer asks for it. This is because the C1 automatically calibrates the heat applied by the machine to the ink depending on the absorbency of the media type, and the rollers are also adjusted in accordance to that. if you feed a 210gsm paper and select PLAIN in the setting, (in my experience) you will have a vibrant output, but at the cost of having a higher chance to jam - thus slowing down production time and wasting paper. It is best that you let a professional classify your media types so you know which settings to use.

For Reverse Printing, we haven't been able to solve this yet. Let us say that the normal output of a print comes out with the top part of the print facing the printer. However, on random occasions, the print comes out with the top part facing outward and bottom part of the print facing the printer. I don't know if there's a setting for this, if there is, other users, please let us know.

Overall, I'd say C1 is a great value-for-money digital press. Just pay attention to the settings and keep in touch with the Canon guys so you can easily alert them when something gets out of hand.

There are some improve on its duplex printing for C1+. Let me know how your C1+?

The specs of the C1+ says you can go up to 256 gsm however I have seen 312 gsm via the stack by-pass. For heavy stock duplex, the service tech recommend printing single sided then replacing it back on to the stack by-pass.

The auto duplex printing is 209 gsm, Sometime the paper Gsm is just one guide but you also have to understand the paper micron.
