Perfecting or Straight Press?

Hi, i want install a Heidelberg SM-52-6 for my packaging business. However, I am counting my options between straight and perfecting press. Can someone here guide me either I should choose Straight or Perfecting unit for boxes, cartons, packaging printing.

Depends on your particular job, generally there is no printing required at the back of board in packaging so why spend the extra money? However there are many customers who got a perfecting machine in good price and they use it for packaging without ever using the perfector.

If you are getting a used perfector in good price you can install that and just do not use the perfector if you dont have a requirement for it.

A printer might be able to shed more light on the subject also.

 

In Perfection, the gripper assembly is very complicated. Gripper opening cam, Storage drum reversing drum, sensors, hydraulics, hydraulics clamps are few things that has to be aligned perfectly. If one of them are not aligned properly then there will be problems. So if you don't have perfection jobs then straight machine is the best option.
