Pagepack price increase coming...

I was told by our Xerox dealer that as of May 1st all new printers put on pagepack would be charged 2 clicks for 11x17. Is this true? We planned to buy a C75 this fall to upgrade an older machine, but if this is the case it probably won't make sense.

Is it only the small office-type printers that fall under "pagepack"? I'm not familiar with the term pagepack. Hope the regular docucolors will still be available with the same full service + supplies click contracts as before.

Page pack is where we get all of our supplies and service on the machine for a per click charge.

Curious if anything happened with this and also if you got the Xerox Color C75.
Looking at a C75 now as well.

Turns out that our salesman, who doesn't sell production machines, was mis-informed. The price increase doesn't apply to production machines. We ended up going with the Xerox 560 for now. Our volume is averaging 40K per month right now.

That's good to hear.
When we had Ikon contracts there was always a fear about what would happen if they decided to change. Our Ikon account rep verbally assured us that it wouldn't be a problem but both of our Ikon written contracts still had language in them from the double click for large size days - that consumables were based on a letter size sheet, so there was always a fear that we would be committed to a long lease on a machine that they could effectively double the rate at some time in the future.

P.S. What made you choose the 560 over the C75?

I've really enjoyed our 242 and the 560/570 would be an easy drop in replacement, I think, which would be very familiar to us with a noticeable bump in productivity.

We like the 242's enhanced gloss mode on kromekote/ultra gloss though and the 560 with the new xerox flatter low melt toner apparently doesn't have that option, so I'm now looking at the C75. The C75 and J75 offer "gloss patch mode" which I'm hoping is similar to enhanced gloss mode. Will have to see how print samples look.

The J75 says it has several advantages such as easier registration adjustment and skew adjustment and inline spectrometer. I'm not sure yet how much of the J75, e.g. more precise easy registration, is in the C75 compared with the 560 to know if it's worth the slight bump in monthly cost from the 560 to the C75, or if the C75 might be worse in some ways straying a tiny bit further from the 242 architecture that has been an extremely capable and easy to work with machine for us.

We went with the 560 at the recommendation of our salesman. We got the OHCF, which is mandatory in my opinion, and a Fiery RIP. I am thinking we should have gone with a C75, but the salesman said we could always upgrade at any time during the lease period.

We have had it 4 days and have put 29K clicks on it. Most have been 13x19 gloss cover out of the OHCF. It hasn't had a single mis-feed except on some curled carbonless that I ran through it. I am very happy withe the feeding and registration. I just wish it was faster, especially on gloss cover.

Here it is a few months later and we just finished upgrading from our 560 to a new C75. We had just shy of 400,000 clicks on our 560 when we sent it back.

Our only real complaints with the 560 were that it seemed to be a little slow for us, since it only did 720 sheets per hour on gloss cover that we mostly run and that it started having problems with the developer units needing to be refilled twice during the last 6 weeks we had it.

So far the C75 seems great and I look forward to breaking it in. We got the square fold trimmer on this one and it has already saved us a lot of time.
