You know Colordyne?

Looked at the Memjet technology at Graph Expo last year.
Have no direct knowledge fo the Colordyne unit but willing to answer what I can on the technology for you.

  • Was looking at the technology in a broad spectrum - to print everything from envelopes to 4x6 postcards to 17x22 press sheets.
Early adopters seem to be for labels, envelopes and personal printers and large format.
The bigest draw back in the label side is the ink smears when wetted - that also kills it for the envelope field also. Speed is impressive but the quality was spotty depending upon substrate and a general lack of color control made matches a guess. Support seems to be a issue also as there are not alot of units in the field to draw a database of cause and effect cures from.

We own a colordyne production class printer. It's very new, h lots of potential and has a long long way to go. We have had it for 6 months and it isn't running yet. If you run into other users, I would like to compare notes with them... That is, get an informal user group going.

Update from an owner of 1600C and 1600PC ...

Many mechanical problem have been resolved, but there are two limitations that are severe problems for us. The promise that coatings would be available, to allow materials to be coated and run on these presses has not come to fruition. And, it I am concerned that it may not be technically feasible in the long run. Also, certain graphic features cause the heads to wear out in a fraction of the time expected. These two issues may severely limit the useability and economics of this technology, compared to other technologies. Contact Steven Label directly if you are interested in learning more about the Colordyne 1600PC or the Colordyne 1600C, from a user.

Without the coating option, how is the ink durability after allowing some time to set?

    Durabilty

Durability in terms of rub resistance is good. Even is alcohol resistance. Have not tested outdoor durability.

Hello, im interested in this printer. Can you give me your email to contact you?
    Greeting, Vedran
