It is related to my work printer.

On some print jobs, after it finishes printing the files it decides to print tens of pages containing one line of random characters.
It does this from many workstations and different software. It does not do this on every print, just about once a day. ( I have to mention the printer is not that heavily used, a couple of times an hour maybe or less, depending)

what can the problem be? it's software is up to date(although hasn't been updated for some time). the drivers haven't been changed recently.

it could be postscript settings, my xerox does it too occasionally from certain programs, put all postscript setting back to default.

  • take a memo of IP Address, delete the printer and re-install it fresh, try to pick-up latest driver from xerox website and install it.

Like I said, it's a work printer, so I would have to do that for 16 macs...
    isn't there a global option?

Well this is the evidence of somekind faulty communication between computer/software and printer... Is there a specific application you create and print the files from? You mentioned that you used Macs, I hate to rain on your parade, but going with macs I think you killed any chance to get help in case something happens, like righ now for example, plus setting the job to print out.of mac is most idiotic thing I had ever seen. Another question please... Is driver used matches your version of mac OS?

  • the printer is connected to the network... (not directly to a mac)
There is no specific software we print from, usually the ones work is being done in, mostly adobe and office. Yes the driver matches the OS version
I don't really know what you have with macs, I'm not a big fan either, but they are necessary in the line of work here. What would you have me do? ask 16 people to send files to a PC and then print them?

Hi, I don't hold nothing against Macs, I hate the way the drivers are designed. Some time ago we had decided to be cool and got the mac for a designer so I wound up having the operator saving everything as PDF and print it from PC. :( NOw I said screw it - put it on shelf, No macs in my shop. Well, back to you - what did people why says they know Macs say?
