Xerox 252 skew printing when print on 250GSM duplexing

Hi All

I was wondering if there is a few experts that can help me here.

When i print double sided on normal 80gsm board it prints all fine with 100% line up, but when I switch over to 110 gsm up till 300 gsm everything goes wrong, I mean like reg marks are out from 2mm till 4mm in some cases more. Not just that the image moves all the time.

Now that i have tried a tray align the bottom part is fine but top part are skew and out reg marks 1.5mm out. That only works for one print after the one print its back to image that moves over etc.

Pls any advice is appreciated and will be tried out.

What happens if you manually duplex / work and turn?
Is the paper stretching or is it encountering some tiny friction on one side as it passes through the duplex rollers/chute?

The customer expectation document states: automatic duplexing on uncoated media up 176 gsm - the 300 is too heavy to duplex.
The customer expectation document also states: printing registration specifications are +/- 1.5mm along the lead edge; side edge +/- 1.7mm; skew registration is +/- 1.5mm along 200 mm of the side edge And that's for 24# 90 gsm media.

Running this in two passes from the OHCF will get the most reliable results possible IMO.

I dont know, I would assume so, due to bad back to back

    Hi Xfactor,

Yes its manual duplex, from the baypass i assume its the OHCF pass.

Sorry when I read your post I thought you were trying to automatically duplex using the machine itself to duplex where the sheet drops down in the chute towards the finisher, etc. (which only is speced for thinner stocks, and even then sometimes gets some skew. The duplex assembly can skew if it gets off or worn there.) But that's not on topic since you're manually duplexing these heavy stocks.

OHCF refers to oversize high capacity feeder and is an air-assist drawer that is available. I don't have the customer expectation document for it here, but it's supposed to have better registration than the bypass tray. But it costs some $$$$.

Does it make any difference at all if you rotate the stock by 180 degrees for the second pass and check the box in the print driver to rotate the second print by 180 degrees?

  • We fixed it without buying any new equipment. thanks to the support of a great xerox tech team. thx xfactor for the replies.

Xerox 252 skew printing when print on 250GSM duplexing, never again.

    NEVER AGAIN FROM BYPASS.

easy when printing the 2nd side, just use the 180* turn degree function.

step 1) print the 1ste side as normal.
step 2) leave the pages on the output tray.
step 3) setup up ur 2nd side.
step 4) use the 180 function in the layout tab.
step 5) make sure that u insert the paper on the side you printed originally from
    step 6) there u go

We get a 100% back to back with out any differences in layout etc

make sure u only do 1 test print before you proceed with your job
