    Dear All,

My Wohlenberg MCS2TV Cutter is giving me following problems. It was working fine a week back, but suddenly this issue is comming up

    • The backgauge brakes are not applying in either the brake position of the stick or the auto position.
    • When the machine is turned off the brakes are applied properly i.e. I cannot move the gauge with the hand wheel.
    • When the stick is at auto the LED lights on the main board and the side panel both are showing indications. Also when the stick is at brake the LED lights are responding. But the backgauge is moving with the hand wheel.
I am really surprised and confused with the situation where the brakes are applying properly when the machine is turned off and the stick movement also shows proper indications.

I anxiously await your reply in the matter

    Best of my regards
    Kagazwala

    Good day Sir:
    Hope you are well.
I am assuming that all Voltages AC+DC are o.k
If you did NOT , please do it with a Good DMM tester.
You are talking about the backgauges brake. problem.
The brake Y5(170 Line in schematic diag) is controlled by Electronic Relais
k72(638 line in the schematic diagrams(is controlled by Transistor switches)
is more faster that mechanical switch. However they are very Susceptible to Spike, Surge in
the Electrical, is there are Not Efective System Protection like EMI, etc.
Test if the Voltage to the Coil Y5 +24Vdc, and the Electronic Relais(can be faulty).
See the Relais:K71 LED h70 is On When the backgauge Advance. +k81 the LED H80 ON When Backgauge Return
They are Pull in and Out correctly?? Is the contacts o.k?.Clean it, and Not dirty ?
The phenomon is RESIDUAL+Transistory in Electronic Eng, to due the Spark inside of Electronic Relais(by Capacitor, Resist, Coil, Network,Inside)

Of course You must Do the following
test the Gap between Coil and Disk brake.
    1) The coil would be Reheating(inside) None Tester Reveal this Issue.
    2) The disk would be faulty. 3) The springs faulty.
    4) Some loose wiring or connection. Tight.

Brake is ON when the power is OFF. Correct - brake does not have power, so by default, it is spring loaded on, as there is no Brake Solenoid voltage to disengage the brake.

Brake is always OFF when power is applied - INCORRECT - Brake must be getting power all the time, no matter how the system wants to control it.

1st Most Likely : Shorted Solid State Brake Relay. ( Common Problem)
2nd Most Likely: Mechanical Brake relay on CPU board
