If you read this, take a few moments to reply and let me know. Thanks!

...I could really use your help on this, so if possible, please don't dodge the question. I know there could be hundreds of you out there. Be one to reply.

Again, thanks for your help.

no idea what the caliper is but it is 400g matt and 400g silk on our iGen 4 not sure if that helps.

  • I would not recommend this. But in my early days when the igen first came on the market I did print 24pt cut short grain about 500 sheets. By the sound of the press it did not like it. Back then we would try almost anything. LOL We do print 16pt often (must be cut short grain). I tell the sales folks that is the max we will print. Hope this will help.

We run some 20pt SBS as 12 x 18 for simplex ONLY and short runs of 20 or 50 pieces...very slow! Our standard max is 16pt C2S, but we try to steer clients to 12pt or 14pt when possible.

Kind of off topic but then...
How do you guys set your gsm when there is no information available? Do you weigh the media?

    Stiv-

    My order of operations:
    -Check packaging
    -Ask client who supplied it
    -Ask paper supplier
    -Check manufacturer's website
-blindfold myself & throw dart at a poster of random GSM values & go with the one I hit

...actually if all else turns up null, then I simply use one from a similar make and weight.

We run 17pt a few times per week, usually duplex. The dart thing works for us as well!

thanks for the info! Welcome to the forum too.
What kind of quantities are you running with 17pt (with or without using the darts)?

    Thanks for the welcome!
We usually run 500 to 2000 with the 17 pt. Our main work is 14pt (50K to 100K per week) Our Igen3 wasn't too happy about it at first but now there aren't many jams at all.
