how can I replace the battery in WC 7755? I have two printers and one time I did it, but the printer has given problems in the operating system, did not boot anymore and the technician had to reinstall everything ... how can I do this without making a mess?

This is true if the battery voltage is at least 2 volts or greater. If the voltage is low the data already is gone.
Recomandations from Xerox is to replace battery when the voltage drops under 2.7 volt

    Hi,
I have bit of a problem.
    I bought WC 7755 from a refurbisher.
It has been working for 2 years without problem.
But this weekend, it ran out of Battery and the system reset.

Everything seems to be working fine but "workflow scanning", "scan to email" functionalities has been disabled and can't find where to re-enable it.
I could login to webUI and enable Fax. But there is no option anywhere in webUI to enable any scan service.

    Any help would be great.

Also, I was not provided with SIM with the copier, so need alternate solution.

    Please help.

    Thank you for your information.
For me, it wasn't on Tray 1 (and made me wonder). I found it on Secret Compartment of Tray 2. It was bubble wrapped and there was one small rod with it too. Not sure what the rod is for. Looks like some kind of re-set pin, that goes through a hole, or just another spare part.

Anyway, this is amazing. I hope other's find this informative too. Saved me easy 250 EURO.

WC is a good machine. Things like this should not have happened in first place, but Xerox ways to keep themselves alive.

Never too afraid to open any machine to check what's inside and how it works :)
    (Excuse: it was broken anyway).

    Hi again,

Last night I decided to replace the battery.
I removed the back cover and replaced the battery.

Now, the machine keeps saying "Rest the machine" and won't boot.
What is going on? How to get it back working?

    Please help.

    Update:
I kind of read this thread after I made the mistake of not swapping battery within 20 seconds.
So, now it's basically won't boot and complain.
I tried to put in the SIM that came with the machine and now it say's on display that it is not the SIM for the machine :D

I get few error codes about serial mismatch and requires password ... something like that.

I have been working with Copier for over 8 years, and have pretty good knowledge of computers. So, please do not hesitate to forward me all relevant information.

My documentation says not to replace the battery, you need to replace the NVM board.

7755 are very sensitive when it comes to replacing the boards, always do a NVM back up before.

    Thanks for quick reply.
However, I think I messed it up.

I was on phone with one of the tech and he suggested that I removed the battery from the "Controller" board.
And now everything has been re-set .... o'lord

That's the battery I replaced, thinking it was the one that had drained.

Any manuals on how to re-program the controller?

    Thanks in advance.

    Solution for above problem:

    Enter service mode ( press: * + # + STOP key for 5 seconds, and release )
    Enter service password: 6789

Under tab "Adjustments" select "NVM Save & Restore".
You will be promoted with dozens of restore points.
Choose the Oldest (bottom of the list) restore point.

    Done..

It prompts that Restore has been successful.
Restart Machine, and everything will be back to Normal.

    =======
The board that I removed battery from was a NVM board :)
So, when the battery was removed, it lost all it's settings.
Luckly, NVM auto saves to HDD every now and then. So, all we needed to do was restore it.
No need for PWS or anything.

Hope this helps anyone with similar problem.

That was because for you changed the wrong battery. This is MCU nvm pwb battery and is very, very rare the situation it is need to be changed. More often you need to change the ess nvm pwb battery which is a yellow rectangular shape one.
You are a lucky person because if the yellow batt. was not good you obtained one inoperable machine and only Xerox representative can repair this. Never change both batteries at same time.

Any idea where I can find this "Yellow Battery" that everyone's been talking about ?
I can't find any Yellow anything in the back of my Machine.

And most importantly where to buy one ?

    Thanks
