Some of us are eyeing to buy or temp to buy a short run printer. Maybe an imagepress or FX. In asian region, EFI is the RIP for the two products. Efi has done so many trainings in the entire region and technically they are very very good in training people. To share with you, CWS is very powerful tool to drive such printer. The RIP passed the altona test suite as far as I know. But let us also consider the printer driving by the EFI RIP.

Consistency - It is hard to be consistent using heat to produce prints. beacause heating the roller is not consistent, it always fluctuate.

Technical knowledge on color management is a horrible problem of a friend in the Philippines. I found out that there is no dedicated person who you can talk to about CMS. Another thing is the capability to understand the workflow of digital printing.

Try to talk any of the pre sales or technical to know if they really understand what is digital printing. If not, do not expect a service or end user training. Try to ask a consultant or let them (manufacturer) make a demo for maximum or optimum quality like using the altona or a ugra fogra media wedge.

Let them talk and discuss what is Color Management and digital printing. If they can't. you will be in big trouble if your printer bug down. Sometimes it is not the printer it is the service.
