The watermarks disappeared from the screen

Check the push buttons and their bulbs. Check the ribbon cable or flat cable for looseness, dirt, or open (damaged). Measure the regulated power supply that powers the display. Look at your wiring diagram and make sure the voltages are within tolerance: 0.7% up or down, +5%, etc.
