Technotrans beta.d issue

Hello,

I recently got an issue with an air cooled Technotrans beta.d 60L. The problem is that, it's randomly throws out an error "emergency stop D-cycle" and turns off all the pumps and cooling. And have to turn the power off and then back on, then, sometimes it works for hours, sometimes, the error comes back in minutes. It is completely random and nothing seems to be trigger the problem.

I've closely monitored the alcohol and the temperature, alcohol remains in 7% and the temp in 9'C (which were the values set by the operator)

And I've also exchanged the combicontrol and the TRE31 computer from a working machine without any luck.

Can anybody came across this kind of situation before? It will be a great help if somebody can help me.

Thanks.

Is there is intermediate tank? If that is overflowing or the overflow switch malfunctions it can trigger an emergency stop of the d cycle.

I would also check if the level switch of the main tank is good.

    Thanks for the quick reply.
Yes, there is an intermediate tank. Unfortunately the level switch was broken, so for the time being, we have temporarily bridged the switch from inside the connector. will that be a problem?

Main tank level switches seems good. the min, dos-on, dos-off and Max levels can be seen by the green LEDs on the TBD-31.

    Thanks.

    Hi Nimesh,
"Emergency stop D cycle" is usually followed by another error, but normally the unit switch off due to excessive IPA. I had seen many sometimes that there are air bubbles in tank which makes malfunctions in IPA metering. Air bubbles are produced by circulating pumps or from the return tank. You need to check if any fluid is leaking from the body off the pumps and also check if the fluid is standing above the feet of return pump.

    Thanks Mathew,
After emergency stopping, in the errors screen, there were 2 more errors. "Flow control D-cycle" and "limit value alcohol". I first thought it was the issue with the flow switch (the circulation pump is actually running and the flow is very fast) So I've cleaned it with no luck. Finally, for the checking purposes, I've jumped it. And I've noticed that, the alcohol levels go beyond the limit values after the circulation pump has stopped (can this happen? Is the circulation pump needs to run to measure the alcohol levels correctly?) So that I've manually limited the alcohol level to 10% by moving the limiting collar upwards. And also removed the hose of the alcohol probe. (means that even if alcohol level actually goes high due to air bubbles, the combicontrol won't go beyond 10%). And it still stops. Now the error screen only has the error "emergency stop D-cycle". (See the photo). Very strange

IPA and the temperature is actually stable. but it still stops. Sometimes in 10 minutes, sometimes works for hours.

  • Hey , did u solved this issue ? Same problem here...

Change the two 220uf smoothing capacitors on the TBD31 (input/output board mounted on the orange color bracket). They were bad and changing them solved my problem. I put two 470uf caps to be on the safe side. Since they are just soothing caps, the value is not critical. More is better.
