SM 74 4 colour - Transfer drum Vaccum pump is not turning ON

Hello,

In our SM74, transfer drum vacuum pump contactor 15K18M is not actuating. Breaker connected to this contactor is perfectly fine and so as compressor, tested and verified manually by sliding the contactor.

During machine operation, feeder compressor turns ON and whole printing process starts but 18M motor is not turning ON, anybody please help me with control logic & condition to turn ON 18M motor in auto operation.

How old is the machine?

 

It's 1992 or 94 model not sure about it but its very old model machine serial no is 620230..maybe that could help..appreciate your support.

 

Make sure the pump is turned on in the preselection screen. The symbol is a round circle with an arrow pointing into it meaning suction on the double transfer cylinder.

 

Image is the screen where you can turn the compressor on/off.
Middle row second icon is highlighted - 'on'

It's strange that in our display we wont find any such icon to turn On or off. I have checked every single window but none of them has this icon to set...our machine is SM74 1994 model..would you be able to help further cause EAK 15 output port 18 is still 0 which in turn don't actuate transfer drum vaccum pump..appreciate your further help and support...thanks

 

Only reason I can think of that could cause that is that the FEM module in the main cabinet is bad. To confirm that check to make sure there is a wire connected in position 18 in the FEM. If so, make sure you have wires connected on the correct side of the contactor. You should have wires connected in the 13 and 14 positions of the contactor not 11 and 12. Once you have confirmed that this is the setup you can use a jumper wire from position 18 on the FEM and put it to position 14 on the contactor, this will tell you if the wire going from the FEM to the module is good or bad. Also you could move the wire in position 18 on the FEM to position 9 on the FEM. You will have another wire already in position 9 so take it out and put 18 in there. Now your 15M18 pump should come on when the 15M9 pump used to come on. My guess is that the wiring on your contactor is not correct or the wire in FEM18 is not correct. Hope this all makes sense.
