SM 52-5 year 1998. SSK2 and CPC problem

The Battery in the Pic, possible is the big one Orange, i can NOT see very well, but must be indicated 3.3 Vdc, Lithium Battery. However will be a good idea, as i did indicated to call some Electronic, for to Fix it , and help you with the troubleshooting.

 

Yes, it is.
It's hard to find this battery on the market, but you can use an ordinary AA size 3.6V lithium battery with leads instead. There are two big holes on pcb beside this battery which can be used for soldering AA battery leads. Check the photo. Don't mix the +/- poles.

Just to be in safe side, before you replace the battery, take photo from all "Variant Codes" if table sheet is not available.

Hello,

Today we got back the SSK card from testing. Electronic Technician told us that he fixed the card.
After we inserted the card into slot2, the light on the card did not light up and we have the situation as before The card in slot1 flashes, while the card in slot2 does not flash.
Below I send photos according to Mathews instructions:

3. 4. 5. 6. Configuration menu and actual values of both SSK cards, I didn't take photos because I'm not sure which menu is exactly.
Problem seems to be that the card in slot2 doesn't recognize at all.

Did you change the battery? If so, I advise to make reset on SAK.

 

I haven't yet. I ordered an identical “orange” from Conrad and am still waiting for it to be delivered, before i saw the post that a replacement AA battery could also be used. I hope to arrive in a day or two.
Is it safe to replace the battery when it arrives, given the situation with the variant code?

Yes, it is safe. But you need a good desoldering device to take the battery out.
As I told you before, it's better to change the battery right after the machine is switched OFF. The risk of loosing data will be less.

Since the machine is not active and is switched off, does this mean that it needs to be switched on for a certain time and then switch it off, before replacing the battery?

 

Please for an opinion, to be sure before replacing the battery.
A colleague from another printing house told me that this SAK module is marked in blue in the photo, although in the second photo I took a close-up photo of that module and on one of the chips it says SEK 024 and it doesn't have any battery on it?
In the photo marked in red is the only module that has an orange battery, I guess this is the SAK module.

 

No, he is wrong. The module marked BLUE is SEK. Take out the one with orange battery on it.

no ssk in slot2 and still shows an ssk, now this is something new! What is the situation after replacing the battery on the ssk like Mathew suggested?

If the press shows an ssk2 in slot2 then i am not sure why you dont see the diagonal icons on the cpc? Does the cpc have a BEK board in it? A quick flash of the bek also helps in these cases.
