Optimism in Folding Carton Market Boosts China’s Printing Industry
Visit SinoFoldingCarton 2011 in Beijing this July

Due to the globalization of today’s economy, every business is part of the economic chain. That being so, providers and consumers are equally responsible for protecting resources and the environment.

Recently, low-carbon concepts have gained greatly in popularity all over the world. Power consumption, pollution and emissions all need to be reduced using low-carbon, green economic development models. As this need becomes an increasingly amplified part of the mainstream dialog, and achieving sustainable economic development becomes a more pressing ambition, how to promote energy efficiency, reduce emissions and cut consumption becomes a more pressing issue to resolve.

From July 6 to July 8, SinoFoldingCarton 2011 will bring together equipment manufacturers, consumables suppliers and folding carton producers with professionals from across the folding carton trade for three days of non-stop business.

Following the financial crisis, China has recovered to show strong economic development. Preliminary estimates by the National Bureau of Statistics show that China’s GDP will reach RMB 17.28 trillion (USD 2.59 trillion) in the first half of 2011. Foreign trade, too, has bounced back strongly. China’s total exports in the first half of this year have so far totaled USD 705.1 billion. These changes have been accompanied by the northward migration of the national economic center, including the folding carton packaging industry chain.

Taking place in Beijing, SinoFoldingCarton 2011 will provide access to China’s northern market around the Bohai Rim region, in line with prevailing market demand. The folding carton industry in that area has great potential for further development, with over 1,000 packaging printing factories in Beijing and Tianjin alone. This is the new hub of economic development in China, following in the footsteps of the Pearl and Yangtze River delta regions. Furthermore, with its proximity to Japan, South Korea, and parts of Russia, the area is the ideal axis for China’s Northeast Asia regional partnerships.

To meet the growing demand stimulated by market growth, manufacturers have to increase the efficiency and range of their production. SinoFoldingCarton 2011 will bring together over 300 well-known local and international manufacturers and suppliers to present their latest technologies and processes. All the solutions on show have been specifically designed to satisfy the requirements of packaging and printing companies.

Exhibits include folding carton processing equipment, hard boxes, plastic (glue) boxes and paper bags. Bobst, Masterwork, Shanghai Yawa, Hongjing, Tokyo Wenhong, Yaoke, Yuanheng will use SinoFoldingCarton 2011 as a platform via which to debut new products.

“After participating in the last exhibition, many suppliers expressed their delight with the event and pledged to come back again this year”, said Alex Wang, who leads the SinoFoldingCarton Project Team for Reed Exhibitions. “Right now the exhibitor invitation process is on the home strait. We’ve received a high number of reservations for booths already and space is selling out at a rate beyond even our own optimistic expectations.”

Helping Buyers Realize Ambitions for a Green Industry Chain
Currently, low-carbon concepts are popular all over the world. Adopting green printing processes is the only way to become, or remain, a major force in the global printing industry. China, with strong ambitions to do just that, is adopting green printing practices with great enthusiasm.

SinoFoldingCarton 2011: An Opportunity to See How Packaging Equipment Has Developed
——SinoFoldingCarton 2011 heads to Beijing for grand opening in July 2011

One of the most outstanding shows on the folding carton industry’s calendar next year, SinoFoldingCarton 2011, will be held from July 6 to July 8 at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing. Organized by Reed Exhibitions, the 2011 event will bring together a large number of the top folding carton equipment manufacturers and consumables suppliers to showcase their full range of folding carton processing equipment. The exhibition will also be a highly effective platform on which exhibitors and buyers can exchange ideas and conduct trade.

Thanks to the internet, electronic media is now an integral part of our day-to-day lives and the traditional printing industry market has shrunk. Book and magazine printing orders have also declined. The lowering of printing prices and rising labor costs have proved challenging for the book and magazine printing industries, whose profits were already low. On the other hand, the fortunes of the packaging printing industry are on the rise. The packaging industry’s total revenue in 2009 topped USD 1 trillion. In 2010 this figure is expected to increase to USD 1.2 trillion.

China has long been considered a key global manufacturer. This will remain the case for at least the next two to three decades, as the country undergoes extensive industrialization and urbanization. As an important part of China’s manufacturing industry, the prospects for China’s packaging industry are bright. In light of this optimism for the industry, an increasing number of packaging and printing factories are focused on SinoFoldingCarton.

Following the global financial crisis, China’s economy is in rude health. According to preliminary estimates from the National Bureau of Statistics, China’s Gross Domestic Product in the first half of 2010 was RMB 17.28 trillion (USD 2.59 trillion). As foreign trade recovered, the total exports in the first half of 2010 were USD 705.1 billion. These changes have been accompanied by the northward migration of the national economy center, including the folding carton packaging industry chain.

Taking place in Beijing, SinoFoldingCarton 2011 will provide access to China’s northern market around the Bohai Rim region, in line with prevailing market demands. The folding carton industry in the Bohai Rim region has great potential for further development, with over 1,000 packaging printing factories in Beijing and Tianjin alone. This is the new hub of economic development in China, following in the footsteps of the Pearl River and Yangtze River delta regions. Furthermore, with its proximity to Japan, South Korea, and parts of Russia, the area is the ideal axis for China’s Northeast Asia regional partnerships.

With the increase in exports and in the demands of the domestic market, the number of folding carton orders is gradually growing. According to statistics from Harbin Customs, 130 million pairs of shoes were exported from Heilongjiang Province in the first half of this year. This represents a 10% increase on 2009. Rising exports of shoes mean an increase in the orders for shoeboxes.

Shandong’s beer industry is another that is important to the national economy. Currently, China’s per capita beer consumption is 30.2 l per annum, on par with the global average. Experts predict that the beer industry will continue to increase by an average of about 3-5% over the next five years. The corresponding increase in demand for beer packaging will boost demand for packaging manufacturing equipment.

Northeast China has long been an important pharmaceutical base. According to statistics from Shenyang Customs, pharmaceutical exports from Shenyang for the first seven months of 2010 were valued at USD 160 million. This represents an increase of 9% from 2009. From this, we can deduce that the demand for pill boxes is huge.

Data from China Tobacco shows that cigarette sales reached 25.2 million boxes in the first half of 2010, a 3.5% year-on-year increase. Meanwhile, first-class cigarette sales in Beijing, Shandong, and Heilongjiang have also risen significantly, surpassing the national average. An increase in tobacco sales means an increase in the demand for cigarette boxes. This means that market demand for folding carton equipment will continue to rise.

Against the background of these upward industry trends, SinoFoldingCarton 2011 will once again bring together folding carton equipment suppliers, consumables producers, and folding carton manufacturers at the folding carton industry’s premier annual event. Across an exhibition area spanning 20,000 sqm, there will be a full range of processing equipment on display. This will include equipment for folding cartons, hard boxes, plastic boxes and paper bags.

Over 300 exhibitors will showcase their advanced technologies and enhance their corporate profiles on-site. Reed Exhibitions, organizers of SinoFoldingCarton 2011, say that after the 2010 edition of the show, many suppliers showed a keen interest in exhibiting at the 2011 event. The exhibitor sign-up process is now in full swing. Applications are plenty and booth sales have been brisk. With Reed’s efficient organization and the promise of magnificent displays of the latest equipment, this exhibition will surely mark the launch of the folding carton equipment market’s recovery in 2011.

Northern China Folding Carton Industry Set to Realize Full Potential
SinoFoldingCarton 2011 China Opens in July

As China becomes more open, and the commercial vibrancy of its Northern region increases, many multinationals are setting up headquarters or R&D centers in Beijing. In the 1980s, the Pearl River Delta stimulated the first wave of growth in the country’s economy. In the 1990s, it was the Yangtze River Delta with the second wave. Today, the Bohai Economic Rim, with Beijing at its center, is ushering in the third wave of growth for China’s economy. The Bohai Economic Rim includes the city of Tianjin, as well as the provinces of Hebei, Liaoning and Shandong.

Boasting advanced industries and densely populated cities, the region attracts high levels of foreign investment. Currently, more than 80 multinationals have set up R&D institutions in China, over 40% of them in Beijing. There are over 10,000 foreign-invested enterprises in Tianjin. Of these, 200+ are Fortune 500 companies. Dalian, with nearly 8,000 foreign-invested enterprises, is one of the most foreign capital-intensive regions in Northeast China.

As the national economic center moves northwards, the folding carton packaging industry chain is migrating in the same direction. This is why the packaging and printing industry in the Bohai Economic Rim has such tremendous development potential. In the fast-growing electronics manufacturing sector, for example, industry leaders like Motorola, Hewlett-Packard, Panasonic, Microsoft and Fujitsu already have R&D centers in Beijing. Many international joint ventures like Motorola and Samsung, already have a presence in the Tianjin Economic Development Area, a large production scale and plans for future expansion. Electronic component manufacturing giant Foxconn is undergoing strategic transfer towards Hebei and Shandong. In the foreseeable future, the northern market will become a popular investment destination.

Although the Pearl River Delta region has the most developed printing and packaging industry in China, this area is virtually saturated so there is a pressing need to expand the market outward. Every year, demand for packaging and printing, especially high-end printing, in North China, grows. These orders are predominantly filled in South China as the region has a better-developed printing manufacturing industry.

Following the completion of the 11th Five-Year Plan, the northern printing and packaging industry is now in a new development phase. With Beijing at its center, the surrounding Bohai Rim Economic Region’s printing output value accounts for 19.68% of the national output value. This represents a great gain on the Yangtze and Pearl River Deltas.

According to the annual Beijing area printing industry statistics from 2009, the 1,610 independent legal printing companies and 34 non-independent legal printing companies in Beijing have assets worth a combined total of RMB 295.95 billion and business revenue of RMB 19.65 billion. Of these, 38 companies have an annual output value exceeding RMB 100 million. A further 260 companies have a value of over RMB 10 million. With the establishment of powerful printing and packaging companies in northern China, Beijing Daxing Economic Zone has also greatly benefitted from the region’s development.

In 2009, the sales value of Daxing’s printing industry was RMB 7.88 billion, approximately 40% of the entire city’s sales, and representing the most developed printing area in Beijing. A large number of food and beverage packaging enterprises are concentrated in the Shunyi and Huairou districts of North Beijing. That year, the combined value of these two districts’ printing sales was RMB 3.2 billion. As Beijing continues its rapid development, the medicine, food, tourism, electronics and chemical industries will provide the folding carton trade with much stimulus and incentive for growth.

From July 6 to 8, SinoFoldingCarton 2011 will take place at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing. The choice of venue reflects the growing influence of the North in China’s printing and packaging landscape, and its expanding development demands.

Geared towards Northern markets, the event will be strongly represented by participants from three Northeastern provinces, as well as those from developing areas in the Northwest. Numerous high profile folding carton equipment suppliers and consumables manufacturers will featured their newest packaging and printing solutions at this industry-defining event. Folding carton equipment suppliers and consumables manufacturers who are serious about penetrating the North China market will find information and opportunities in abundance at SinoFoldingCarton 2011.

SinoFoldingCarton 2011 to help manufacturers upgrade finishing processes

    【Press Release】

Labor Shortages Boost Demand for Finishing Process Equipment
SinoFoldingCarton 2011 to help manufacturers upgrade finishing processes

At the beginning of Spring, China’s labor shortages, nationwide, were even more acute than in 2010. The shortages are not only being felt in the Pearl and Yangtze River Deltas, coastal areas like Tianjin or large cities like Beijing; they extend as far as northern and Midwestern cities like Chengdu and Wuhan.

Aon Hewitt, a global human resource consultancy, predicted in its February 2011 report that there would be a 10% to 20% labor shortage in China after the Spring Festival. The research found that, in early 2011, the Pearl River Delta region received 86.7% more orders than it had the previous year. This means that 82.5% of companies in the area need to increase their workforce by roughly 20%.

Labor shortage accelerates investment in finishing process equipment
The labor-intensive folding carton packaging and printing industry is not immune to the worker shortage. Along the production line in folding carton manufacturing, finishing is the process most adversely affected. Manufacturers must, therefore, work out how to cut costs and eliminate staff shortages. All this in a fiercely competitive folding carton packaging and printing market where customer demand means an increasing need for greater production efficiency. It is survival of the fittest and the fastest as companies that can rapidly respond to customer demand are the ones that survive.

This call for greater manufacturing agility is why it so important to increase automation. In doing so, manufacturers can reduce the number of staff involved in the finishing process, and cut operation times.

Because commodity packaging is rising in profile, finishing process technology is key to the final quality and appearance of product packaging. It can't change the color of the printed graphics on folding carton, but it can greatly improve visual appeal. This adds value and aids sales promotion.

The finishing process is the most complex in manufacturing. It involves many production links, and needs a lot of manual and material input. Today, many folding carton packaging production processes are still not fully automated because equipment cannot completely replace manual operation. Rising human resource costs, labor shortages and increased prices of materials mean that folding carton companies urgently need to develop more finishing process equipment that does not rely on manual operation.

A greater number of folding carton businesses have increased their investment in finishing process equipment. They are upgrading machines faster, partly automating some finishing processes and even fully automating others.

In light of this market demand, folding carton finishing process equipment manufacturers also have a great opportunity for growth, which is why they are calling on local manufacturers to improve product quality, be versatile in terms of responding to market demand, and produce finishing process equipment that is high in efficiency, reliability and stability. As the folding carton packaging and printing market embraces the new equipment investment boom, finishing process equipment will take the lead.

A showcase for new finishing process technologies and equipment

Numerous high profile local and international finishing process equipment manufacturers for the packaging and printing industry will gather at SinoFoldingCarton 2011 at the Beijing International Exhibition Center from July 6 to July 8. On-site, they will show new equipment, products, technologies and highly automated folding carton manufacturing solutions. The exhibitors aim to provide visitors with an efficient and convenient platform to improve production processes and achieve high efficiency by upgrading the finishing process.

In the field of die cutting bronzing technology, local Chinese equipment manufacturers, having observed international prototypes have opted for independent development production. Several automatic die-cutting stamping equipment businesses have sprouted countrywide. Judging from the performance index, this recent proliferation has effected great improvement. Top machines can operate at a rate of up to 7,500 pieces/hour while die cutting precision is around ±0.075 mm. Hot stamping is now predominantly characterized by stamping foils, the speed of which can exceed 6,000 pieces/hour and reach precision levels of between ±0.10 and ±0.30mm.

In terms of functionality, die-cutting machines have changed their standard configuration from merely die cutting to also being able to deal with production waste. Numerous companies have introduced die-cutting machines with a waste disposal capacity. The hot stamping machine also has new functions like two-way foil delivery, holographic positioning, hot stamping and plain silver seamless stamping for customers to choose from.

At SinoFoldingCarton 2011, visitors will be able to see the latest developments in die cutting and hot stamping products from renowned local and international equipment manufacturers. These include companies like Bobst, Xuheng, Eva, Xincaishun, Yaoke, Yahua, Tokyo Wenhong, Tangshan Yuanheng, Tangshan Vanguard, Hongjing, Chengyuan, Weihai Tiannuo, Wutai, Xinchuan, and Xinlian. Folding carton producers who are keen to improve production efficiency, cut wastage and lower costs will be able to find abundant solutions on-site.

As the last process in the folding carton production line, the folder gluer has great impact on the carton’s quality and shelf display effect. Although the folder gluer manufacturing industry is relatively new, only gathering real growth momentum in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the intervening two decades of development have seen folder gluer production technology greatly improve. Folder types have wider adaptability and now range from single line folders to hexagonal, octagonal and heterotypic folders. This improvement in folder gluer production technology significantly cuts costs for the folder carton printing industry.

At SinoFoldingCarton 2011, visitors will be able to evaluate the new folder gluer technology from Bobst, a high profile international manufacturer. They can also see the latest solutions from local manufacturers like Xuheng, Eva, Xincaishun, Hongyuan, Tokyo Wenhong, Yahua, Wutai, Draken, Hade, Chengyuan and Jiajie. Additionally, glazing and laminating technology will be showcased at SinoFoldingCarton 2011.

By attracting local and international industry leaders in manufacturing, SinoFoldingCarton 2011 is recognized as a major industry event globally. It showcases the best and newest technologies and highlights solutions for improving the folding carton finishing process. It will be an efficient platform to help folding carton packaging and printing companies invest in, and enhance, their own finishing processes to improve production automation.

EskoArtwork to Display Kongsberg VL Cutting Tables

    【Press release】

EskoArtwork to Display Kongsberg VL Cutting Tables at Top Folding Carton Industry Exhibition

China is a massive market with great potential and countless prospects. For that reason, top companies like EskoArtwork, with ambitions to consolidate their position in the packaging industry, are always eager for opportunities to debut new products.

Following its resounding success at SinoCorrugated 2011 in April, EskoArtwork will also take part in SinoFoldingCarton 2011. This second event will take place in Beijing from July 6 to July 8. There, EskoArtwork will present its new type series of cutting tables: Kongsberg VL. This new product line is completely unique in the China market.

EskoArtwork is a global supplier and integrator of innovative solutions for packaging, commercial printing and professional publishing. For years, the company has played an important role in China’s high-end market, helping customers raise productivity; reduce time-to-market; lower costs and expand business.

To further explore China’s dynamic packaging market, EskoArtwork provides software and equipment with an enhanced level of efficiency to packaging buyers, designers and manufacturers.

“To expand in China, it is important to have products that are market-compatible. What EskoArtwork provides here, and all over the world, are high quality products. Without a doubt, the products’ tremendous technical strength sets them apart from the competition,” said Charles Chan, a Pre-Production Consultant at EskoArtwork.

According to Mr. Chan, the Kongsberg VL cutting table series is more cost-effective than the XP and XL series. It narrows the scope of the applied materials, particularly for board and corrugated board product services. The Kongsberg VL series uses the same design concept as the XL series, one of EskoArtwork’s most popular product lines. The Kongsberg VL, made by Kongsberg Norway, accounts for the biggest share of the global market.

Many Chinese customers ordered the new cutting table before detailed information about the product had even been released. Due to its huge popularity at SinoCorrugated 2011, EskoArtwork will feature it again at SinoFoldingCarton in July to highlight more of its competitive advantages of to the folding carton manufacturing community.

SinoFoldingCarton 2011 will be an exciting opportunity for packaging professionals and brand owners to get a close-up of the Kongsberg VL cutting table and gain a keen insight into why EskoArtwork has become the worldwide market leader in packaging solutions.

Shanghai Rocky to Boost Low Carbon Adoption Rate of Low Carbon Adhesives

    【Press release】

Shanghai Rocky Looks to SinoFoldingCarton 2011 to Boost Adoption Rate of Low Carbon Adhesives

Adhesives play an important role not only in packaging and printing, but also in everyday life. In recent years, the rapid development of the adhesive industry has given rise to new products. However, materials like formaldehyde, poisonous solvents, toxic curing agents and other additives used in the adhesive production process pollute the environment and threaten public health.

With a rise in environmental consciousness and health awareness, adhesives need to offer more than just function and application. Internationally, stricter environmental standards now apply and in response, adhesives that are environment-friendly, healthy and safe have been developed.

In order to adapt to the new green standards, adhesives need to be upgraded at a faster rate. More waterborne epoxy resin, solid, non-solvent, low-toxicity adhesives are required. Water-based adhesives, compared to polyurethane solvent adhesives, have several advantages. They don’t emit solvents; they are environment friendly, non-toxic, inflammable, safe to use and low in cost. The solid content of these solvents can be as high as 50% - 60%. Additionally, their high molecular weight means that a small amount of glue can achieve high composite strength.

As the expert in manufacturing water-based adhesives, Shanghai Rocky Adhesive Co., Ltd. will showcase its products at SinoFoldingCarton 2011 for the first time. The company has more than ten years of experience in adhesive development, application and sales. It is ISO9001-2000 certified and also has SGS Certification. Shanghai Rocky has marketing outlets in more than 50 of China’s large and medium-sized cities like Beijing, Guangzhou and Tianjin. This enables it to provide prompt pre- and post-sales services to customers.

At SinoFoldingCarton 2011, which will take place at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing from July 6 to July 8, Shanghai Rocky hopes to showcase the full potential of low carbon adhesives. SinoFoldingCarton is an unrivalled trade fair which combines expansive displays with countless opportunities to engage with buyers and industry colleagues. By highlighting the benefits of, and solutions provided by, environment friendly adhesives, Shanghai Rocky aims to help customers adopt low carbon, environment friendly solutions.

SinoFoldingCarton 2011 to Showcase Paper Bag Processing Technology

    【Press release】

SinoFoldingCarton 2011 to Showcase Paper Bag Processing Technology

With the escalating global emphasis on environmental protection, there is a greater demand for packaging products that meet higher requirements. Across the world eco-friendly paper bags have great potential for development.

Against this backdrop, SinoFoldingCarton 2011, to be held from July 6 to July 8 at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing, will bring together well-known paper bag manufacturing equipment suppliers like Dongguan Lizhong Everwin Machinery Equipment and Wenzhou Zenbo Printing Machinery to showcase advanced automation technologies for processing paper bags.

Bags with handles, often used as gift bags, are made from a variety of materials, including paper, plastic and non-woven fabrics. They are most commonly used as shopping or gift bags. In some parts of Europe and the US, they are even used in place of actual handbags. Because these carrier bags are usually low in price and come in a variety of styles, they are easy to mix and match with other accessories. Today, they are quite popular among Chinese youngsters, who call them “G-Bags”.

Paper carrier bags can be divided into two broad categories: ordinary packaging bags and refined shopping bags. Ordinary packaging bags are made on regular assembly lines. Refined shopping bags are more complicated to make. The sheets that make up the bag are color printed before being laminated or foil stamped. They are then converted to paper bags using manual or semi-automated box making machines. The final step of piercing the handle holes and fastening them in is done manually.

Paper bags are portable, biodegradable and recyclable. They cause limited air pollution and so protect the environment. Therefore they are highly useful and commonly used products. As we become increasingly mobile, being able to easily carry goods in paper bags becomes ever more convenient. This makes paper a key to portraying a company’s image and to the implementation of an advertising strategy. As such, the bags need to be greener to produce, more appealing and durable.

Currently, the world’s leading paper bag manufacturing machines use electricity, gas, liquid, light and magnetic force. High efficiency in manufacturing, energy-saving and recyclability have all become key trends in global manufacturing, including China’s paper bag manufacturing machine trade.

Currently, local paper bag equipment manufacturers import cutting edge technologies to create high-efficiency, low-power consumption, large sets of equipment and high-tech products that meet market requirements. Because most paper carrier bags support offset printing, Chinese companies are now developing sheet-fed paper bag manufacturing equipment that will be suitable for most printing companies.

The same companies are also accelerating the upgrading of paper bag machines to further expand the world market. For example, Wenzhou Zenbo Printing Machinery has recently produced the ZB960C automatic paper bag machine, which has an automatic feeding system, automatic gluing capabilities (it sprays hot melt adhesive during the manufacturing process), molding functionality, automatic folding buckle plates and an automatic press cylinder. Its all-in-one molding capability is close to the most advanced technology in the world. The calibre of this piece of equipment serves as encouragement to other local manufacturers to develop their own paper bag machines.

With the support of numerous renowned suppliers of paper bag manufacturing equipment, SinoFoldingCarton2011 will showcase the full range of new automation processing technology for paper bags. It will also provide opportunities for visitors to see amazing exhibits first-hand. SinoFoldingCarton is a robust platform for cooperation across the folding carton trade. The show also adds vibrant impetus to industry development.

SinoFoldingCarton 2011: The Best Place to Meet Buyers of Post-Processing Equipment

    【Press Release】

SinoFoldingCarton 2011: The Best Place to Meet Buyers of Post-Processing Equipment

Folding carton processing companies are the main buyers of post-processing equipment. With competition in the market intensifying, a growing number of companies are realizing the importance of attractive packaging in promoting brands and products. For this reason, folding carton is becoming an increasingly popular form of commodity packaging. As demand for folding carton grows, so carton producers need more production equipment.

Profits in the folding carton and packaging industry are higher than those from the traditional book and magazine industries. High-end folding carton and gift boxes generate especially large profits due to the complicated processing required to produce them. Several factors have made the manufacture of folding cartons a high-profit and high-output value industry. They are: the strong purchasing power of packaging companies; low costs; low wastage; high production efficiency and tremendous demand. In China, this last element, in particular, is attracting local and international folding carton and packaging producers to fight for market share. These manufacturers, coming from high-profit industries, combine high demand for equipment with strong purchasing power.

Equipment producers are now focusing on the packaging market because the industry has such vast potential. An internal survey of the 10 leading die-cutter producers showed that, 70 percent of their clients were packaging companies. Their strong purchasing power has made these companies target customers. The huge profits brought by the packaging industry has caused producers of paper surface treatment equipment, like laminating and varnishing machines, to target folding carton manufacturers as buyers.

With the continuous development of packaging products, manufacturers now demand a higher volume and quality of post-processing equipment. The makers of these machines, therefore, are continuously upgrading and researching new ways to develop post-processing equipment. This has become key to the packaging and printing industry.

SinoFoldingCarton 2011, to be held from July 6 to July 8 at Beijing’s China International Exhibition Center, will bring together suppliers and buyers in the folding carton industry. During the event, post-processing equipment producers can meet target customers, talk to buyers with high purchasing intent and share best practice with nearly 13,000 trade visitors face-to-face. The event will also be a great channel via which post-processing equipment producers will learn about the demand, strategy and purchasing trends of buyers in the industry.

SinoFoldingCarton 2011 to Showcase Industry Applications

    【Press Release】

SinoFoldingCarton 2011 to Showcase Industry Applications for High Efficiency Automation

With the global economy entering a new era following the financial crisis, the international folding carton processing industry is trending towards more efficient solutions. Fast printing of large bulk orders can reach speeds of hundreds of meters a minute; while smaller quantities can now be printed while you wait. Automated post-press equipment is gradually replacing manually operated machines, a shift which has dramatically boosted productivity.

High efficiency solutions will be at the heart of SinoFoldingCarton 2011. A number of manufacturers will display new, automated products and technologies for the folding carton processing market.

Increased labor costs have bolstered demand for automated equipment in folding carton processing. This is why processors are now investing in automated equipment rather than in manual labor. Manual processing can result in imprecise products and lower production efficiency caused by fatigue or lack of diligence on the part of workers.

Using automated processing equipment guarantees product quality and dramatically improves production efficiency. It also eliminates the management challenges and communication barriers that can occur when there is a high number of employees. Ultimately, automation cuts costs for printing companies. A stark example of how this happens is found during the quality testing of finished products. Automated checking equipment is faster and more efficient as it requires minimal human input. Done manually, quality tests represent a significant cost for printing companies and can result in less accurate results. Conversely, an automated quality checking system ensures that substandard products are not distributed.

With the green revolution taking hold of global industry, low carbon production has taken on increased importance. A “low carbon economy” is one in which conserving energy and reducing emissions are priorities. Advanced automation technology is a highly effective way of saving energy and cutting emissions in the folding carton industry. This is why, at SinoFoldingCarton 2011, over 300 renowned local and international suppliers of folding carton equipment and consumables will showcase advanced automation products, technologies and solutions cover the pre-print, workflow to post-print processes.

Producers of post-print equipment like die cutters, folder gluers, hot stamping machines and laminators will be well represented by industry giants like Bobst, Masterwork, STS, Shengding Group, Yawa, Tokyo Wenhong, Hongjing, Yuanheng, Chengyuan, Dragon, Wutai, Shengtian and Yongshun. Additionally, the latest post-press automation processing technologies, including auto-loading and unloading devices for automatic die cutters and auto-waste-removal devices, will be demonstrated to global folding carton manufacturers, visitors and buyers. Those with a high demand for automated post-print processing equipment will find everything they need at SinoFoldingCarton 2011.

SinoFoldingCarton 2011 to Showcase New Cigarette Packaging Processing Solutions

    【Press Release】

SinoFoldingCarton 2011 to Showcase New Cigarette Packaging Processing Solutions

As the largest exhibition in the folding carton industry this year, SinoFoldingCarton 2011 has long been anticipated by trade professionals. The event will take place from July 6 to July 8 at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing. As preparations for the show reach their climax, SinoFoldingCarton 2011 continues to differentiate itself from other industry events and attract wide interest.

This year, the event’s organizers, Reed Exhibitions, are focusing on blending the showcasing of high-end folding carton processing equipment with technical exchange seminars and trade opportunities, under one roof. This three-pronged approach has attracted a wide range of renowned suppliers from the cigarette packaging industry; including the likes of Shanghai Yawa Printing machinery, Horauf Shanghai, Shanghai Yoco Printing Machinery, Masterwork Machinery and STS Machinery. These companies will showcase their new technologies and processing concepts for cigarette packaging and printing. At SinoFoldingCarton 2011, companies, suppliers and industry experts will join together to discuss new trends in local and international cigarette packaging and printing. They will also assess the impact of gravure printing in China.

China is the biggest cigarette market in the world. As cigarette factories continue to launch new products in a bid to increase market share, the market for packaging cigarettes in China has undergone something of an unprecedented boom. Indeed, some local cigarette products are packaged to a far higher standard than their international counterparts.

Cigarette packaging and printing processing has been key to the development of the folding carton packaging and printing industry. Many new materials, processing solutions and technologies were first trialed on cigarette packaging products and, because of their success there, were then popularly adopted for the packaging of folding carton products.

With constant improvements in cigarette packaging and printing technologies, as well as in processing methods, cigarette factories demand a higher standard of printing quality on the box labels. On February 26, 2008, new limits imposed on the number of volatile agents in the packaging paper for cigarette cartons came into effect. This introduced a subtle change into how cigarettes are packaged. Water ink and water borne materials will gradually become integral to green printing as cigarette packaging develops.

The question of how to deal with stricter environmental regulations and compete in an increasingly fierce cigarette packaging industry is one that will be answered at SinoFoldingCarton 2011. The show will give visitors insight into the latest processing solutions, technologies and equipment. It will also provide information on raw and auxiliary materials that are sustainable and, most importantly, compliant with international standards.

SinoFoldingCarton 2011 will bring industry professionals right up-to-date with the latest local and international trends in cigarette packaging and printing. On-site visitors to the event will be able to find solutions that are company-specific, and which can become integral to accelerating the development of your business.

Automated Folder Gluers: A Core Focus at SinoFoldingCarton 2011

    【Press release】

Automated Folder Gluers: A Core Focus at SinoFoldingCarton 2011

As China’s carton packaging industry continues its rapid development, carton manufacturers are attaching greater importance to post-processing. Gluing technology, as part of the folding carton manufacturing process, came into use several years ago. Today, processing methods long used in Europe and the US have now been adopted in China.

The carton gluers used locally fall into two categories: semi-automatic and automatic. Automatic carton gluers are rapidly gaining in popularity because the technology they are based on significantly improves production efficiency. Indeed, a single carton gluer can match the capacity of three stitchers.

With the automatic carton gluer, all functions, including inserting the paperboard, folding, gluing, pressing, reshaping and strapping, are completed without human input. This has the benefit of reducing labor costs and boosting efficiency. When cut into shape, paper boxes are dispatched after folding and stitching has been performed.

For small order numbers, folding and gluing can be done manually. For orders that run into the thousands, or even tens of thousands, automation is crucial. Therefore, equipment with higher levels of automation is in urgent demand. If semi automatic gluers are used, paper must be manually folded piece by piece. Additionally the semi-automatic machine’s capacity is just 40 to 50 pieces a minute. This does not satisfy the need for fast production.

The automatic inline flexo die cutter folder gluer (commonly referred to as the In-Line) trebles production speed to 120-150 pieces per minute. However, this machine is only suitable for the production of large batches, due to its high price. Small and medium-sized companies usually don’t consider purchasing such equipment. To solve this problem, suppliers have developed an automatic gluer with a speed of over 80 pieces a minute. Printed and slotted paper boxes are piled on the automatic gluer’s paper feeding plate for the paper feeding, gluing, folding, counting and ejection processes. In this way, a batch of paper boxes are stacked and ejected together. Since this process is fully automated, it is also very efficient.

Every year, SinoFoldingCarton keeps fully abreast of current issues affecting the folding carton trade. Based on industry trends, the show brings together suppliers and manufacturers of folding carton equipment, as well as consumables manufacturers, to an annual event where visitors can learn about new developments in gluing technology through the products showcased by well-known local and international gluer suppliers.

Renowned post processing manufacturers like Hongjing, Chengyuan, Jiajie, Xinlian, Chengming and Jiayi, are set to feature new products at the show. In addition to displaying their latest gluing technologies, the exhibitors will also provide carton-gluing solutions to trade visitors. We look forward to seeing you at SinoFoldingCarton 2011, the unique and most unmissable trade show on the folding carton industry’s calendar.
