    Dear friends,

I am in the market to buy 26" 4 colours offset.

I found one Shinohara 66IVP with shinoharamatic dampening system. I not used to Shinohara.

Anyone knew and used to Shinoharamatic dampening?

Is has a problem to control ink and water( fountain ) balance?
Bridge roller to contact with ink form roller and dampening form roller?

    Please explain about it, Thanks.

This is the reason , well , one of the reasons...

This is the reason , well , one of the reasons... for the low prices of used Shinohara presses.
If the only guide line to choose a press is price - go for it , but if you are looking for a lasting high quality press that has service , parts and a future - stay away....

I now unfortunately know why my tafe training teacher said " This is a shinohara, a machine that not many qualified printers like to run".
    They serve a purpose though.
    1) To pump out mid quality work at a fraction of the cost of a real machine
    2) to give the operator a mental breakdown when he is ordered to high quality work with less then 50 sheets makeready on polyester plates....

Cheap for a reason.. Ours had issues from new and only got worse.

Is a 52 size press meant to have fit issues between units? Apparently yes, as any shino I have seen doesn't hold fit like the better machines. Thank my lucky stars I'm not having to run a larger sized shitohara.

Company has gone bust now, so best stay away. Buy a real machine and save money in the long run.

You know you run a piece of **** when your talking to a consumables supplier and they ask what machine is it and they cringe....

    Yep,

It's about half price cheaper than other.

I have to withdraw to buy it. I most afraid part is ink and water balance.

    Thanks,

No friend, Shinohara is not that much of bad as you think. I have 2 Fuji Shinohara machines and both are as good as Heidelberg and Man Roland. its make ready is even quicker. As far as quality is concerned, it is never stay behind any other machine.

    Important notice!!!

Notice , Fuji-Shinohara is not Shinohara , it is older models with less problems !

As for how the damps work..... they work like helllllll

Just look at the list of press builders on this site:
    heidelberg
    Komori
    KBA
    Roland
    Mitsubishi.
......No Shinohara , no Hamada , no Akiyama.....
    Why ?
As the world market did nit like the result and the product never "took off"
It is a low entery level press to the printing market and with no company as backup (gone for a reason) , it is puting your money on a deer's horn and kicking his behind so he will run fast and far.

Take an older Heidelberg / Komori / Roland , what ever and you will be better off for years

    It's your money... :)

Meny, I think you need to put forth a reason why you say the damp works like hell.

    The shinohara damp
chrome roller in the fountain tray
Metering roller against the chrome roller which has skewing adjustment
Chrome roller transfers fount to water form after the metering roller.
Bridging roller can either run intergrated or de-intergrated (best to run de-intergrated)
Larger shino then 52 size run an oscillator roller under the water form to get rid of any circumferential comb cording.

The larger shino runs larger diameter rollers in the water system which would be a benefit.
The 52 size runs rollers that are not really large enough.

The other issue is in stock form the water form roller is 23 shore A & the metering roller 30 - 32 shore A
This works okay with high levels of IPA, but to run reduced IPA or IPA free you need a softer metering roller and thats where the problem starts.

Shinohara runs the same damp system as Sakarai

    Thanks Meny and Luke.

    Your answers were useful.

I asked one of shinohara 66IVP owner and he said the biggest problem is ink and water balance. Often need adjust rollers (not only damp roller but also ink roller).

Can't control image ghosting. Most occur in hot summer season.

Small dampening roller size (56.5 mm) that small to compare with other press.
