Saber 137 guillotine

Hi to any United States Engineers
Can you throw some light on this for me. A saber guillotine I am working on has a shear bolt as per picture. This just looks like a cut Bolt, is this right. Or should it be something more engineered to a true load tolerance

Hello Andy,

That must be the mechanical fuse. When the load exceeds a certain pressure must be broken into that thin section. Do not change for a solid screw. It would be a big mistake.

    12.9 steel socket head cap screw, The main shank is 10 mm except where it is undercut.
