we have a 3302 H, it has leaked water around the damping system since day one and nobody has ever been able to tell me where the water is coming from. the side squeegees are replaced all the time and still drips and washes out the image for 25 or so copies, then prints good then drips again...??? any help would be great.

    Font tray

    Hi,
I run a 3304HA, I believe the damping is similar on the 3302. From memory there can be a number of causes for the dipping. You say you replaced the foam at the sides of the rollers. I'll just go through some stuff then you can have a look and see on your press. I have had trouble with fluff building up on the front underside of the font tray as the tray contains chilled water the fluff seems to wick the condensation or font or both, if you can take the tray out and wipe the underside that may help. The other thing is you may need a new metering roller, if you have beads of water running along and down the roller when the press is running this is the likely cause, you could try a good clean with meter roller cleaner and a shampoo to deep clean the rubber. If that sorts it in the short term then you need new dampers.
Hope some of this help and who knows might even solve the problem.

thanks for the feed back, we have taken out the tray and cleaned it and wiped off the foam squeegees, i have replaced the metering and the water form regularly? I even made drip catchers under the sides of the squeegees. Still leaks somewhere???

    Mmm!!

It sounds like your damping system is in good condition and well maintained. Have you tried a different fount solution or experimenting with IPA levels. If you are running poly plates could you be getting water building up on the front or back edge of the plate. On my 3304 you can control the speed the pan roller runs at, if you run it really slow so as a job will scum or tint do you still get the water drips? Is the water drip related to the speed you are running the press at?
It's a puzzle and probably very frustrating for you, if I think of anything else I'll post it, best of luck sorting the problem.

I had same problem on a Crestline Damping System, I coundtn figure where or why it was doing it, so i called the egineer, and it just seemed to be that a few rollers needed adjusting

    Ryobi 3302 - AKA Itek 3302

Check to see if the meter to chrome roll setting is skewed. It is easy to set pressure right but have the adjustments screws at opposite ends, which makes the ends of the rollers run wet. Same with form roller.
