These 6 chillers attached to a Komori L-632 are not all functioning properly. Some get darn cool (frosting) and others tepid. Most (4) are R-12 FREON and 2 are R-134a. The R-12 units have only a low-side port, while the R-134a units have both low and high ports. I think they're all 1 (one) lb. charge units. I've checked refrigerant pressures on them and the vary all over the place (10-25). I need some idea of what to expect re. pressures. I've got gauges and cans of refrigerant, I just need some idea of what pressure to shoot for and if this pressure is measured with water in the tank or "naked", running press (generating heat) or not. Ambient temps here in N. California now are ~72F (24C). Thanks, JJ
Too cold is not the problem. Not cold enough is. I need to know what pressures to expect for the R12 and R134 units. Thanks.
Forget about the compressor pressure for a minute. Does the unit have a temp reading in the front? LCD/LED?
No temperature read-out. It has a mechanical thermostat on the rear near the top: crank the knob and the set temperature indicator goes up and down. I learned that these are Royse model SS-5. Thanks.
The frosting i find i get when the temperature is too low. faulty thermostat could be the problem. I normally use a refrigeration engineer, should be able to find the fault pretty quick
My problem isn't frosting. My problem is that some of these units don't even get cool at all. Tepid. Lukewarm. I'm not worried about the ones that frost. The thermostats might be misadjusted. I'm not going to worry about them until the all cool. What pressures should I see on the R12 and R134a units?
Try this. On the units that doesn't get cold. Turn the temp down to say 40 degrees. The compressors should kick on. You can hear it come on. If it doesn't come on. It might be the temp controller box. If its a box made by Ranco I can tell you how to check to get it to work.
Turning on power to the Royse unit, the compressor comes on immediately. It doesn't get cold. This means a) not enough gas, b) bad compressor, c) foreign stuff (air? water?) in the gas circuit, or d)?
We Used to get this quite often when we had royce;s, we just used to get a fridge engineer to come out every now and again and fill it with gas.
If it doesn't cool it's because of a lack of refrigerant gas in the system.Get it re-gassed by a refrigeration engineer,Job done,Simple!!!!
