If you go back in printing press history.
Miehle was a press company making letterpress and then offset. I think in the 1980's Miehle was bought by Roland and became Miehle Roland. The name Miehle Roland was used in the US for awhile until it was just Roland. They could be the same press with 2 different names. One for USA and one for the rest of the world.

  • Meihle was merely the U.S distributor for the Roland brand. Meihle never actually manufactured the presses, they just put there name on it.

    Rod is right.
Miehle was distributor for Faber & Schleicher Offset Maschninenfabrik which became Roland Offset and later MAN Roland. They imported all press sizes which tey did not manuafacturerd in Chicago. So anything up to 49". Be carful the presses manufactured for Miehle had different technical specifications.
If you need more information or parts for both check www.igs-usa.com'

The Miehle company built letterpresses mostly ( The V45 is a famous type). Rockewell international owned the Miehle rights and sold Roland machines known as "Miehle-Rolands" Then Germany took over, and the machines were fabricated and distributed in the USA as "Man_Rolands". Except for the Miehele verticals, all the machines were German built, if memory serves me right.

  • oops yeah your right, good ones though LOL how stupid do i feel :o

ran one of those verticals as an aprentice had fire coming out of it to dry sheets if you stopped middle of stroke
paper caught fire intresting times back then pain in the arse to number had to double stroke every 100 or numbers
wouldnt turn over no wonder everyone was drinking in the pressroom back then
