Never heard of them but I've soaked blankets in water before to rejuvenate them and that has worked before so it is possible

Blanket smashes can often be repaired as long as there is no cut on the surface of the rubber. You begin by marking the low spot with a sharpie marker on the canvas side of the blanket. Then with a solvent soaked press rag, you want to vigorously rub with a circular motion the canvas side of the blanket right behind the area to be repaired. The solvent on the rag swells the fibers on the back of the blanket. If its available to you, there is a commercially available product called PBR, that you could use in place of the solvent. Once you've rubbed the back of the blanket, you will want to aggressively knead the rubber side of the blanket in the problem area. This will further aid in getting the blanket to swell. From here you just need to change your blanket packing, and you should be good to go.

You might be amazed at how many operators change both the blanket and the packing when they experience a misfeed or ‘smash’. The truth is that the majority of those smashes only need the packing replaced.

While paper packing that has taken a hit will not recover, and always needs to be replaced, more often than not the rubber on a blanket does recover. Don’t take my word for it, try it and see for yourself!

    True.
And so many operators are changing blankets without changing packing. What's the point?
