QMDI Classic IR Dryer Problem

I have an IR dryer on my Classic.
I am not getting any heat from it when running...

We have cleaned sensors, Checked relays (Some were tripped), Fans are working.

Tried in auto mode and manual same result (No heat)

I ran a di with ir dryer, it never worked, if you watch your ink density you should be able to turn any coated job in 20 minutes in most cases.

  • Double check with meter your connections at the relays. We had the same problem on our Komori with it's IR and found one of the relays bad. I run a QMDI Plus also. It does not have a IR unit on it. We have never had a problem with transfer. We can run a full delivery of 80# gloss text with just slight powder and about 10-15 minutes on completion, turn and print 2 nd side with no problems. I know this doesnt help but, if all esle fails, print without it.

Just check if all your lamps are OK ( measure with ohmmeter if you have resistance on the plug).
Probably one of them is broken.

this is first time that i heard for IR dryer installed on QM DI Classic (i know for PRO but not for Classic ???).
Is this original from Heidelberg or some 3rd party? Can you write more about it?
I try to find IR dryers (on google) but nothing found for QM DI press.
Jan, what do you say about it?

Yes HD introduced IR dryier at the time of Plus production, but upgrade of Classic was always possible, you just need new SVK-3 board supplementary (about 600-700€).
The cabinet is laying over the transformer part of the cabinet.
Installation is a hard issue, because you have to crawl into the delivery laying on your back.
2-3 days are needed. New price was extremely high, can't remember, but I think something like 14k€.
Actually I own one original dryer, I'm refurbishing one QM DI Plus that will work with UV conveyor, so I will sell my IR dryer at the end. I still need ca. one month to test it. The lamps are OK.

    Thanx Jan,

    very interesting...
    ...except the price (for me)

    Good info for others...
