QM46 valves going out does anyone know where to get just the valve not the assembly

Are you sure it is the 5/2 way valve or is it the air piston that failed? When the air piston has a leak the air back flows through the valve causing it not to close completely. The valve will sound like it is leaking because of this, even though it is not bad.

It is leaking out of the ports then the compressor cant keep up and quits until you have a working pressure And Heidelburg does not sell just the valve alone!

Heed Paul's advice. Try pinching off (with pliers softened with rag) one of the air lines to/from the piston. If air leak stops, it's likely the piston and not the valve.

OK where can I get the piston, valve is cast, piston is plastic I cant find any parts or specs to rebuild?

There is no part # Heidelburg only sells as a set hooked up to a $500.00 Ram, the ram is fine its listed in parts book Y-3 but they consider this all one piece as you can tell by pic. I can take it apart, I took two from another press

Heidelberg only sells the entire air piston as there is no way to determine if there is damage to the inside cylinder walls. It does no good to replace internal parts when air can still leak past them. I personally have seen the inside of these cylinders scarred from trash going through them. Also when you replace these pistons be sure to measure the length of the stroke from the old one, these dimensions are important to transfer to the new one.

I totally agree, this is why I want to purchase the valve by itself, not the assembly w/ram Where would you getting these pistons if you were going to rebuild it

The valve is probably not the problem. They rarely fail.

Given its not proprietary, punch in Herion with their part number, which should be on the component, see where that takes you. But really, why not just get it over and order from someone you know has what you need...Heidelberg.

Hold on! I think you're not understanding what we're trying to get across to you...the piston (or ram, if you will) is not anywhere in your picture. What we're talking about is the component the valve assembly operates...whether it's ductor on/off, impression on/off, etc... Do you understand?

HERION and Heidelburge have exclusive rights to that valve and won't sell to anyone but Heidelburg. Its like needing a new tire but you have to by the whole car

My apologies for not being clear about the valve. (Good catch Junker1984) I was talking about the pistons the valve operates.

Some background information on why Heidelberg does not sell parts of assemblies. Heidelberg has found over the course of 170+ years, in a majority of instances it is better to replace an entire component as opposed to replacing parts of it. While it may seem expensive up front, it turns out not to be in the long run. In regards to air pistons this is especially true. Most of the time you just push the ultimate failure of the item you are trying to repair down the road.
