We have a QM 46 2 color and whenever we start printing the screen turns blank and machine stops. Sometimes it turns on again but at times we have to restart.
The pump continues uninterrupted.
Please help.
We are in the middle of a huge run.

Hi sir ;
Look for this;

1) please if the Screen has baterry , and measure the voltage and replace it if have

2) test the ribbon or flat cable for display and replace it , if necessary

3) measure the high voltage for Display if there , aprox 208Vdc, depend of the mark of display,

4) If everything is o.k clean the connectors, look for loose cable, corrosion, and Reset the CPU

  • Hey Chuck.
    Thanks so much. Number 4 worked.
    I cleaned the connectors and problem seems to have disappeared.
    How do I reset the CPU?

    Great sir !

    Attached is my own schematic, how to do it.

    And example for the pin CPU 8085, you must search in Google, Yahoo, the according with the CPU ,that machine has the Schematic Pins, for Reset.

    Remember the 1) power supply Vcc must be checked in tolerance 0.7% up or down 2) the Clock or CLCK.

    Thanks. Very kind of you.
    I will do the reser after I am done with this long run.
    I am very grateful for the time you have taken to help me out.

    Hey Chock, I trust that you are well.
    I need some pointers on the QM46. For a week now, it is showing the spanner sign and not even inching. We have checked all board seems okay. We even reset the computer.
    Any ideas what we could be missing? The local engineer suspects the motor but says the only way to ascertain this is to look for a similar motor (from another machine) and test.
    Challenge is there are very few Models of this machine in my region.
    If possible, kindly share some wisdom.

    Hi sir;

    Hope you are well.

    Test 1) The pulse generator of Main Motor,See if the terminals connector X6 is o.k , or dirty or corrosion of flat or ribbon cable for Pulse generator is defective.

    2) Test the input of main motor, when you are touching the button for inching(reverse, or forward) If NOT there Voltages, if indicatives the board TRK IS DEFECTIVE!, according with his schematic diagrams electrical.

    3)see if there voltage when you press RUN, in the Input of main motor. If there voltage the TRK is o.k, and the main motor. If there Voltage in terminal of main motor, and Motor NOT run, can be defective, in the (winding reheating) NOT burning, you must go to the Motor shop, for to take Maintenance, clean, exchange ball bearing, LUBE, etc.

    2) Test the input of main motor, when you are touching the button for inching(reverse, or forward) If NOT there Voltages, if indicatives the board TRK IS DEFECTIVE!, according with his schematic diagrams electrical.

    Hey. We tried step one and all the connections are ok. How do we test No 2 and 3 because when the machine has the spanner, nothing on the board works? We are unable to inch forward or reverse..

    We tested with another motor and the motor has been confirmed to be okay.
    How can we run No 2 and 3 with the spanner icon on?

    Hi;

    Test the Voltage at terminals of the main motor, according with ID Plate of motor.

    If the voltage is NOT coming, you must track where is the Input., possible the TRK is defective!! replace

    If the Voltage is coming, see if the brake is working, see it and test for mechanical problem or electrical problem if the voltage is there for the brake or NOT , or the Main motor is faulty, or electronic board TRK.

    Hello Grabala, did you manage to fix your problem? what was it? I have a motor or board issue and trying to troubleshoot. thanks

    Hey,
    No I didn't fix it. We tried with a board from another machine and it worked fine.
    So I just need to order a new board and we shall be okay.

    Hello Chock. Just wanted to add a note to say thank you for the troubleshooting.

  • This happens when connectors between CPU board and IO board is poor or disconnected (X6 & X7). All the settings like speed counter, plates are reset to previously saved state. All power are down except pneumatic pump.
