our LS540(2008)- 1st unit using anti-marking paper and other 4 unit unit using anti-marking film the problem is there was always a mark on our job caused by dirty ICP. normally just wipe off the surface of the ICP will solve the problem but just for short term only another trick we use is to repel the paper from touching the ICP surface using a sticky rubber(for die-cut mold) this trick not 100% solve the problem because we always run in different size, weight, different direction of long and short grain papers. anyone have other trick? or we might could adjust ink tack ,fountain, or what ever...

and 1 more thing i just really need to know what I ,C and P mean. well i know ICP and anti-marking net/film/paper are the same thing. ,am i right?

Each printing cylinder has several anti marking bars that can be moved to accomodate the size of sheet, these bars give the sheet more stability.
Place 1 bar on each end of sheet outside trim area, for better stability place 1 bar somewhere in the center, where you might have the least ink coverage.do this to all units .
Get some weather stripping 5/16" wide x 1/4 thick, similar to your die cut rubber
place it 1 to 2" lower than the problematic area on your transfer cyl..
Place more stripping along that area out side of work & on edges of your sheet, that will keep your sheet from buckling as it leaves imp. Cyl. Onto transfer cyl.
If that doesnt help matters try getting some thick nylon weed wacker wire....
And open 1 end of transfer paper screws and place one end of wire, rotate press and do the same to other end of transfer cyl.
Place 1 wire in center of sheet as well as on each end of sheet, were trim marks are on printed sheet, youll have to run some sheets & stop press when it reaches the problem area or unit, then place wire accordingly....
Keep in mind that each transfer drum holds 2 sheets.so do the same to both halfs of that transfer drum.....................
Good luck

  • ,your welcome im glad ,i could help you. what is your location.. good luck

i m from malaysia and this is our first komori and maybe second press will be installed next year.

    ICP

Nets (Super Blue etc) are open weave fabric - personally I don't rate them but they were/are standard on Heidelbergs.

The use of short grain materials won't help - but keeping the films clean will minimise marking.

Incidentally on our 626 we only have ICP on the perfector drum - our marking is really very low.

we always running with thick and a lot of solid so icp marking was among the problems that we facing every time for almost all jobs. we run heavy stock and i guess maybe 'sheet slap" could be some of the issues

    have you tried the nylon??
did it work for your problem???
i cant quite remember what icp means, ill try and find out for you
hows the printing job market outhere in malaysia.
any time you run heavy board stock with solids or full sheet coverage your bound to get some marking/slapping
does your press have a coating unit?
how many color units on your press..??
trying to figure out a way to help you ease the problem.
take care my friend & good luck

does your press have transfer air control pumps???
if it does that will help you regulate the amount of air blast, that you can apply to drum,.
if you have that feature you can find it on your main color controll console..
or perhaps the pumps are regulated manually by pressman underneath each printing unit... tell me what you have and ill try to help. good luck

yup the nylon work and help minimize marking but since we run 24 hours in 2 shift that was considered best result. yup about the drum air blast i noticed about it when i was cleaning the icp i noticed it nozzles i think below imp. cylinder.we just set it to low and never adjust it.i have tough about it but seriously FYI working with oldest and experienced press man that before that running MAN Roland press i cant say much. anyway should we set it to full air blast if the marking getting worst? i think the air blast control at the machine console i will confirmed it later because i am on leave for 2 day. i will try attach some pic for you

90% our job with solid! and full sheet coverage. in Malaysia some company cannot make it but some like my company well you know what i mean when i said a new press next year.i think because most of our jobs are for glove product.hey my country was among biggest latex glove manufacturer and since demand for glove increase that why we can still survive

I believe thats the air nozzle you need to adjust.
try it on medium blast first, then work youre way up for more air blast if you need to.
I used to work for Man Roland Co. as a press Tech Demonstrator back in the 80s
i tell you what if you want to send me pictures send to my email alexsd40@yahoo.com ,i dont know if i will get your pictures of press thru the forum.try it both ways if you like. good luck out there in Malaysia my friend.
im glad my idea helped you produce a cleaner job,... my name is Alex

    marking on LS press

I can offer more then one reason for your problem.
    1. if you use the right ICP foil - a lot of options on the market
    2. if you use the right air settings (when did you last clean your air filters?)
then it is one of the next:
    1. your ink settings are wrong - do you use CIP3/4 profiles ? do you use KHS/KHS-AI ? is your press callibrated ?
    2. your damp solution could be wrong - do you use Alcohol ? A. free ?

If you contact me by mail I will try help you out

there is 1 button at the front of machine(delivery) "SHEET DECURLER" should be ON or OFF ? we never switch on that button !!!

    Sheet decurler

this is like an IRON to the paper - to get it nice on the delivery pile - it has nothing to do with the sheet before the delivery so it is not connected to the anti marking in any way. sorry , but this button has no solution to your problem :-)
    Meny

thanks meny for that info...now i knew!!!

we do have a lot of problems and but the press still running 24 hours and we solved it in the hard way...i ill collect some data and info about my fountain and ink(we do have a problems with these) then maybe we could do something about it... thanks

getting the right support & guided learning is a key to trouble free production

If you get the right support on how to get the most out of your Komori , you will get it running at higher quality and beter productivity in no time.
learning "the hard way" is not that cost effective...
using the right chemistry is a key factor to better printing

The air blast adjustments in the first two pictures are the secondary delivery blower rails below the fans in the delivery, 5 in total. The adjustments for the between the units blowers are on the gear side of the press. Each unit has a ball valve with a pressure gauge. Ours are usually set all the way open all the time on gloss stock. And we usually turn the blowers off when running matte, or dull stock, doubles on the down side. Perfecterwise anyway.
