I have a Konica Minolta Bizhub Pro C500. Im printing a 8 page booklet, or 2 11x17 sheets half fold, but also want to staple. The machine has the folder and stapler but I can't get it to staple the booklet. It folds but doesn't staple.

If I manually put it through the machine is folds and staples fine. Just not when I send to print.

Does anyone know how to activate this through the printing. Here are my Printer Feature Settings. I'm printing from Adobe Illustrator on a mac...

I don't know your machine, but until someone chimes in who does, why is Booklet Maker set to none in your screenshot above? I would think this would come under the category of bookletmaker.

  • Booklet maker option lays out your individual pages in proper order and format for a booklet. At least that is what I've observed when test using this option. Even when I selected the option I still could not get it to staple.

Have you correctly installed all the optional equipment. It seems that your driver is not recognizing a stapler. In the booklet mode, it should give you an option for staple off or center. Look for the stapler. I have the same printer and everything works.

It works when I use it manually and when I do photo copies. Maybe I'm setting options wrong. Can you show me how your printer up. Booklet maker changes the orientation of the of the layout and tries to put everything on one page. I'm setting something wrong I think. I'm printing from Adobe illustrator.

i think the software for the finisher driver is not loaded correctly

  • if you choose booklet in illustrator (i don't use Illustrator, but do use Indesign) and booklet in the driver, strange things will happens. use booklet in driver only and see what happen. i'm also not familiar with the MAC driver dialog boxes.

go into your printer properties, find the config tab, ask the printer, see if it knows the stapler is there, then make sure the bizhub knows it has a stapler from the print driver. the mac does not always support the bidi you want on print drivers. are you using a 'mac' specific print driver. additionally in your 'feature sets 3' do you have edit ability - seems by that moniker that perhaps you already have presets in there that the staple may be under. regardless if you are saddle stitching typical saddle stitchers will not allow folding w/o stapling over 1 page i.e. if its more than one it staples regardless. I am curious though, what does the "Stapler Mode" in your second screenshot do? It says "center staple" .....that should be where you are telling you if you want one or three etc
