Dear senior members,

Please can you explain about pre and post dampening setting reason and required set point for Heidelberg CD 74 machine?

  • Hi sir , can you explain more your question because realy i dont understand
Sir, I'm asking that, in the Heidelberg machine, there is option to set pre and post dampening.

So, I'm asking that what is the usage of this and when needed and how many set point?

Pre damping is the amount of revolutions the machine does before it goes to print & post damping is the same when the machine finishes printing.
Enough to make sure plates are clean before print but not over wet (5 to 10 is normally enough) & a few after to make sure plates are clean if removing etc (but this can be set to 0)....you need to decide on & set these figures to suit your conditions

The pre damp setting and post damp setting allows you to set how many revolutions the dampening unit will be engaged before it goes under impression post damp is the opposite and determines the revolutions after coming off impression. These values are user changeable we adjust ours depending on what job we are running and have a formula for each job and substrate etc. If you are always for example using just 4 colour process and gloss paper then you can adjust them based on whether they are scumming at first print or washing out usually your post damp is not as important as the pre damp
