POLAR MOHR 78 ES back guage problem

hi ,hope i can get a bit of help .(i have polar 78 es) my polar is give me a problem when started it shows:
back guage home pos .unknown
tow option : are shown
1- scan refernce position
2- auxiliary operation ,no pos
when pressed 1, it shows confirm,when table in empty.
when confirmed . the back guage move
and error shows up (There is no indication position Reference )error code 653
what does error code 653 mean ?

Hi Motaz!

Your cutter has a measurement system. If the backgauge is at a position of 50 cm you see in the display 50 cm as well.
Something has to get the both situation’s backgauge at 50 cm and information at the display calibrated. This means the cutter needs a reference. When the service engineer installs the machine he will check the measurement with some paper. In case the dimension is wrong the service engineer can change the setting of the reference.

Technically the cutter has two components which are giving you the reference.
The first component is a proximity switch or sensor. This switch B341 is underneath the table. The backgauge is moving and somewhere in the middle of the movement the switch B341 becomes active. This is 50% of the reference point.
The second part is the encoder. To get the correct information where the backgauge is, the cutter has a counting devise. This is the encoder. The encoder sends the counting signals and as well a reference signal. These are the second 50% of the reference point.

The computer controls the situation very correct and found a problem. One of this functions is not working correct.
Maybe the switch is broken.
Maybe the encoder is broken.
Maybe one of the cables got eaten by a mouse.
Maybe the adjustment from the switch and the encoder are wrong.
Maybe one of the electronic boards is broken.

This is your situation

You have different choises
You leave the cutter in the way it is and use “auxiliary operation” without any measurement.
You call the next available Heidelberg agency in Cairo and ask for help.
Or you need a smart electrician and we try to fix the machine. But this will take some time via internet.

thanks for your dealing, i checked the sensor and all of cables im m sure it is OK. but the encoder does not sends the counting signals always to display .
my dear you are said maybe the adjustment from the switch and the encoder are wrong. if so what is procedures to adjust the sensor and encoder in this case?
also when i use the cutter in the auxiliary operation sometimes it shows lift the knife up (error code 470 )
For your information,i have moved the knife manually and the sensors of the knife all right

Hi Motaz!

Regarding 470
If you have the error message WIND KNIFE UP MANUALLY ! 470 permanently, the knife is not in the correct position.
If you have the error message WIND KNIFE UP MANUALLY ! 470 just from time to time, the little transformer in the power supply unit is broken.

Regarding 653
You did not checked the signal from the switch B341 correct. You maybe saw the little LED lighting up at the switch. To be sure that the signal is okay. You can measure the voltage at the plug on the rear side of the mother board. Do you have an electrical drawing of this machine?
The counting signals you cannot see on the display. On the display you see the measurement of the backgauge position.
I can tell you, so far the counting signals are okay. If the counting signals where missing you would have immediately after starting the backgauge the error message 654. But your error message is 653. This means you had at least some centimeters of backgauge movement and the counting works. But no reference point signal recognized.

To do the test you need a normal voltmeter to measure 24V d.c. As well you need the electrical drawing of the machine. If you do not have the drawing I need the machine number to send you the correct drawing.
To guide you through the setting of the switch B341 I need an Email address. I will make a description as a pdf file for you. You may follow this information and we will see the result.

Your instruction.The first stage has been successfully,But in the next stage there have been some problems.
if so i made a reference adjustment it same as shown in operation manual,but didn't shows any reference point and back gauge position.I send explain the problems that have emerged to me in your email address.

Hi ,
I have polar mohr. its backage is not comming to front automatically after it touch back position. The other problem is we can't take programs from memory. no display on program select.
I hope you can understand the problem

I also have the problem with 78X where the cutter needs to be initialised every time the machine is turned off and on. I think therefore it's a battery I need to replace. Could you let me know what battery I need and where to get it please?

Backing Gauge setting problem

I have same problem regarding Backing Gauge setting problem - for a polar 115 XT - 2006
On the setting procedure, after dimension settings - wich is working good - AFTER THIS the machine must to start the adjustment for backing gauge position (TILT 90 degrees) -
but - the panel not receive the actual position of tilt ..I have message : SWIVEL GAUGE ADJUST. MISSING (2100)
in auxiliary function I can operate - the motor are moving the backing gouge but also without knowing/display the position ..
I think the problem is the encoder or no data transmitted .. but I don't know where is placed ... and what to do to verify ...
