POLAR 82 EL the knife stuck when lifting after cutting

Hello! I am an electronic engineer and I have problem with guillotine POLAR 82 EL 68/ 0175.

When the blade is at the top point, pressing the cutting buttons starts the cutting cycle and cuts the paper (the knife goes to the lowest point). But after cutting (when the knife is at the lowest point), the knife just starts to rise up and rises to 1/3 of the way, and then the knife's rise gets stuck. Then after turning off the guillotine and manually returning the blade to the top point, the cut can be made again and the knife gets stuck at 1/3 of the way up again.

Does anyone know a solution to this problem? Or maybe someone has a wiring diagram for this guillotine to share?

Thank you in advance!

  • Hi sir:

As say the colleague, adjust the back gear box, the limit switch, by proof and error, see if they are broken, dirty, or faulty, or lines loose.

The most common cause for this fault is the cam switches there was a modification that uses 2 relays installed in series with the cam wires this can be found if you trace the cam switch wiring the relays should be in a small metal box in the trunking at the back

Thanks everyone for the repair suggestions. But I haven't solved the problem yet. I checked the CAM switches: clean, working, slightly worn plastic parts (~1mm). I tried moving the CAM switches back and forth, but there was no positive effect. Now I will try to draw an electrical diagram, at least the part responsible for controlling the hydraulics of the saw. I think then it will be clear where the problem is.

Hi Did you check to see if there is a box with relays in the wiring between the cam switches and the electronics rack?
These sometimes can cause this problem.
once the blade is past bottom of the stroke the cam switches are the only thing that can stop the blade movement.
You should also check if voltage is lost to the solenoid coil when the blade movement stops

    *****Problem solved*****.
After reconstructing part of the wiring diagram, I realized that there was no control voltage coming to the CAM. I traced that this control voltage is coming from an electronics board inside a metal tube mounted on the hydraulic system. After repairing the electronic board, the guillotine works.pcb.jpg
    Thanks everyone and good luck.

    Hi sir:
This parts is older, like the machine, is Not more in sell and production by POLAR . Will be difficult, that you find it, new or used.

I strong recommend you, that you better go to some machine shop, and make a new one.
