Polar 137 EMC display replacement

So I have this 1991 Polar 137 EMC, the monitor have died and been fixed countless times over the past 15-20 years by several different technicians. For a long period, I have also used a black and white CRT TV while I was finding technician to fix the original display.

Yesterday, the monitor died again and I'm thinking of replacing it with an LCD, I know this can be done. I have tried to replace it once, but the technician brought a converter and a CCTV monitor with a weird screen resolution. The image was cut off at the right side and there was no way of adjusting it, so we ended up using the TV again.

But I have seen people use modern LCD display and the image is displayed correctly (see attached photos), what kind of converter do I need to use to to do this? I know the Polar video board has several outputs including a BNC(?) connector, which I used to connect to the B&W TV. Can I just use a BNC to VGA converter to connect to an LCD display? What LCD resolution do I need to get? Will 1280 x 720 work?

Dear rich8606,

Yes, you can use a "BNC" to VGA converter instead of a CRT monitor, as well as to refuel your diesel engine with an A98-Premium petrol, mixed back with lower oil fractions, I hope.

But the most easy and reliable way to solve the problem, is to use CRT Monitors for such machines, which are still availble.

POLATECH POLAR/EB 022 331 12" Green Phosphor CRT Monitor for Polar XXX-MON Paper Cutters.

    Dear Friends,

For those who prefer original CRT quality, reliability and who keep respectfully the ancient Polar Mohr XXX-Monitor Paper Cutters "as was".

Custom cables manufacturing by your specifications and requirements:
PAX-EB022331-PWR - AC Power Cable for Polatech POLAR/EB 022331 CRT Monitors.
PAX-EB022331-COX - Video Data Cable for Polatech POLAR/EB 022331 CRT Monitors.

Other special cables and for other machine tools, hard to (de-)solder items as well:

As to the 12" puppy on the last picture, it is homeless and is looking for a proper owner. One of the first monitors originally implemented in Polar Cutters. It has even not been marked by Polar Mohr:

    Gerhard Gerätebau GmbH
    Typ: 100.010
    Seriennummer: 1813

Later, such monitors were marked as Polatech POLAR/EB 022331 by Polar Mohr.

The monitor has been repaired in principle, its green phosphor Cathode Ray Tube has not been burned out yet. The set is going to be cleaned deeply, all the EL capacitors to be replaced, problematic POT's to be cleaned/replaced, CRT socket is too dry and should be replaced too, before to provide you one year of full warraty, and before it whould work further 25 years for you, if you do not wish to change your LCD monitors more often than a motor oil in your car combustion engine. A hard copy of a reverse reproduced schematic diagram of the monitor is going to be enclosed, as it was customary in Japan and USSR in the past.

A shelter for homeless CRT monitors :

Your contributions of antique CRT monitors' and FBT - Flyback transformers' schematics are welcome, and them are going to be available for public access, as much as we do not like html "programming".

And durable new replacement CRT monitors, also miss your vintage machine tools.

    P.S.
By the way. We are looking for documentary film by JVC - Japan Victor Company, about legendary and adventure design, development and marketing of the VHS-Video Home Sytem format for home VCR - Video Cassete Recorder. The film was demonstrated on Russian TV about 25 years ago. A good motivational lesson for current employees, for management. JVC success was as the result of collective diligence, spiritual, mental and physical efforts, of dedication to the idea and their company, of faith in the leader and the leader's readiness to shoot himself in the event of the overall failure of the adventure, and not of just marketing bull-shi-t(пиздежа (Ru)) by white-collars. I compare VCR technologies to space level technologies. Those are not like qua-quack semaphoring via WhatsDown messengers for children and dullards. We would be very grateful if someone would share this film.
