    Pleasure to hear you solved the problem. What happened to the transistor? Definitely it wasn't a short, right? You were so lucky, because it was shorted out, it'll fry all the electronics in the upper panel by sending 12V to them.

    Replace it by a genuine transistor made by a reputed company like Motorola (ON semi), TI, ST or alike.
