Hello. I have problem with start of steering. Main engine starts, when I push a button of steering I have different signs on display instead red digits. When I try push button which moving "saddle" back, it does not work. I check electrical engine responsible for moving backwards/forwards: OK. Clutch is OK. I checked all board on down part below a "table". I found one problem with electricity, I should have 5V but I have only 2,4 V. I can't check boards "above table" because on a electrical scheme I see only as rectangles. Please help me. Best Regards Sebastian

    Please measure the power supply
attached as indicated in circle Red.

As you saw your power supply is Faulty since you have 2.4.

This circuit work with TTL +CMOS IC, you must repair or replace the electronic board.

    Please measure too the +24Vdc
    Let me know, Blessing

I check: 24V is ok. 5V I have on board only without connection, when I connect board to circuit I lose 5v and I have only 2,4V. So, You think that board is "broken"?

Yes: 100% is sure that you must faulty the power supply
for +5Vdc, replace I strong recommend you, unless you are skill in repair to level electronic components
    boards.
Do not waste your time, please see the tolerance that i did send you for +5vdc +24Vdc
    Blessing

Hello. I bought and changed board, but problem exist. I have 2.5 V on board after run. Of course I'm not sure that "new" board is ok. Have you any idea?

    Hi sir
    1) I do not know if you buy a new board??, but will be a good idea, if you have some friend or colleague, for to test the board and see , if is working good or NOT.
    2) However test with the schematic diagram in the section of your paper cutter MR
    A) Outputs Rectifier for open and short circuit for section of+5Vdc
    B) Test too the Electrolitics Capacitor for section of+5vdc for open or short circuit
    C) Test the secondary winding in the main transforme for the section that feed the circuit of+5vdc if is Open or ground or short circuit.
In short whatever electronic/electrical components mentioned before , can be Draggin the Voltage for +5vdc

Hi sir, the tech information that you receive is for POLAR EL, only NOT for EMC+EM Please make the steps that i did indicate please, Do not waste your time and money

    Dear Chock
As you can see down polar.pdf 115 EMC from 1978 it is CE or EMC1 . Picture from Sebastian IMG 024.jpg shows card 4a, because tab 1 2 3 are connected to voltage regulator. Card 4a is from polar EMC1. Above scan 1.pdf is from polar EMC1.

Hi Guys, this Polar is version EMC, I got year of production from Heidelberg Service. As we see this Polar was built in 1979 not '78. I'll sent to you serial number tomorrow.

Sorry sebastian, really you have reason the EMC 1978, and the tech documention is Valid EMC POLAR 115 1978,
However synthology you must take the adjustment with the POT, but as I did explained review the Steps explained
    before.
My apologize, for the error about the EMC 1978
    Let me know, Blessing

Sir. I suggest you un-plug each board for programming in turn untill you isolate which board is pulling the voltage down and then effect a repair of that board
    Regards
    Andy

    Hi
Let me tell you my experience.
You have an EMC I, which is very old. First, in this model, although the power supply board is 2A, you should measure the voltage on the red and blue test points on N-MAV board on the upper panel. The voltage should be 5.1V exactly on the N-MAV board.

Keep in mind that you should not rotate or adjust the potentiometers on the 2A board. If you haven't touched them, then follow these steps.

There is a fuse in the 2A board. Take it out and clean itself and the two holders. Then pinch the two holders inwards to tension them and put the fuse back.

Then take out the two screws holding the heatsink on the LM337 (as I can remember) regulator. Most of the times they become corroded and make loose connection. Clean them, put it back and tight them nicely.

Check the input voltage to the 2A board. It should be around 12V. There are machines with 2 supply systems. Some machines carries a separate toroidal transformer placed under the metal cover of the left leg of the machine. And in some machines, the supply is taken from he main transformer itself on the back of the left leg. In both cases, there is a bridge rectifier to make it DC. check that rectifier for any open diodes. And also there is a large capacitor. If any defect, replace the rectifier and / or capacitor.

And also, there is a power transistor mounted on a large heatsink on the side of the card rack. The GN, GU, BU wires are connected to that transistor. Check that one too.

(You should perform all above steps if you DID NOT adjust the potentiometers on the 2A board. If you have adjusted it already, the story changes and do not do anything above and let me know. I will guide you through another few steps before above.)

After each and every step, you can turn the machine on and see whether it solved your problem.

Most probably these steps will solve your problem. If not there are few more steps. But first, check these and let me know the progress.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Guys.
Big Thanks all of you in helping. Problem was in transistor mounted on large heatsink beside card rack. So, Polar is still in The Game :)
