hi all
I purchased a polar monitor retrofit kit for my 115 em
I have put in the new monitor and cables
also a new graphics card
what is confusing me is the 5v or 24 v connections
do you connect both ??
and where does the minus voltage come in to it

Hi!

You did good by asking first. Wrong wiring would cause unfriendly smoke related signales.
The modification kit 56842 should come with the instruction 250805. This is an 18 page assembly instruction. Without this information you may realy get lost.
Do you have this information?
If not I need an Email address to send it

  • yes I do have the instructions

so you need to connect the 5v and 24v

and how do you test the voltage at the plug once connected to the cu board

You have different possibilities for measuring.
After installing the cable set 056845 you connect the cable to the mother board. The picture in the instruction manual shows the mother board from the rear side.
This cable set includes two wires. One is for the video signals. The other is for the power supply
You do not connect the cable for the power supply (no 2) to the components inside the Display housing.
Now you switch the machine on. You can measure on the rear side of the mother board like the picture in the instruction shows.
The wire number 1 is connected to 24 Volt d. c.
The wire number 2 is connected to 5 Volt d. c.
You can measure from the wire to the machine body (iron)

As well you can measure at the other end of the cable no. 2 (inside the display housing).
The plug no. 2 has three contacts. Pin number 1 is connected to the wire 1 (24 Volt d. c.). Pin number 2 is connected to the wire 2 (5 Volt d. c.). Pin number 3 is not used.
You may check the two voltages by measuring to ground (machine body).
There is no special wire for 0 Volt.

    thanks coloured
I played with it the other day again and came to that conclusion
what had me worried initially was that in the instruction manual
    it states
    old monitor runs on 220V
"new monitor runs on 5V OR 24V"
but you actually need to connect both!!!
    there was the confusion
did not want to connect both and find the screen blow s up as per the first statement
"if you do not follow this accuratelty you risk damaging the screen"
    Cheers for your help
