Plockmatic PBM problem

Bought a used Plockmatic PBM500 recently and everything was working fine. Got it set up for production and it worked great on books 5.5X8.5 but on anything longer than 11.25 inches it would go down and staple and stop at that point. I am using it off line. Anyone have an Idea what is causing this?
