Depends on your particular job, generally there is no printing required at the back of board in packaging so why spend the extra money? However there are many customers who got a perfecting machine in good price and they use it for packaging without ever using the perfector.

If you are getting a used perfector in good price you can install that and just do not use the perfector if you dont have a requirement for it.

A printer might be able to shed more light on the subject also.

In Perfection, the gripper assembly is very complicated. Gripper opening cam, Storage drum reversing drum, sensors, hydraulics, hydraulics clamps are few things that has to be aligned perfectly. If one of them are not aligned properly then there will be problems. So if you don't have perfection jobs then straight machine is the best option.

Yeah, I’ve been in a similar spot with deciding between a straight and perfecting press for packaging. I ended up going with the straight press because it fit my needs for efficiency and simplicity better. The perfecting press can be great for double-sided printing, but for boxes and cartons, you might not need the extra complexity.

For anyone looking into printing options, you might also want to explore Lino printing kits at Hickman Design. They were a helpful resource for me when I was setting up some smaller projects.

In some country there is some boxes which have a text in the second face so you can use perfector machine , but in general boxes and cartons don t need perfector mode . To choose option you mist always define your need

The perfecting option on a Heidelberg is mechanically very complex and doesnt lend itself all that well to heavy substrates. As a result is not a popular option for board printers. Why incur the mechanical complexities and the cost for a feature you will rarely be using???
