On my komori 44Sp I am having trouble with my water pan rollers inking up. Mainly just the black and yellow. I am confident its not a water supply issue tis just started a month ago we have not done anything different we have 7 Heidelbergs that are not having issues just our Komori. What I have been doing is wiping down chrome rollers with chrome roller cleaner and gum arabic but that only last for 3 to 4 hours before chrome rollers starts inking up. then traveling to the pan and putting the water motor in a bind and causing it to overload. I did notice the chrome oscilator has scratches in it and where the scratches are is where it inks up first. I am wondering if i should scrub them with a non abravise cleaner such as comet. What about my durometer of my pan rollers it is 25 now recommended by the book should I change that? Water tank is clean

Hi Gdoan. I have had similar problems on a Komori L640. We tried different dampers, different fount, altering roller settings and various cleaning products on the chrome rollers. None of these things made any difference. The problem was solved by our ink supplier who gave us a different ink formulation which worked brilliantly. I suggest you contact your ink supplier before you try anything else.

  • Also it could be your fount, i find hostmen stienberg founts are bad for that, try a varn product, i.e, aquerios or better yet excel. good luck, i feel your pain. also scrub chromes with plate scratch cleaner then gum.

does your chrome oscillator ink up as well? do you have a bridging roller?
    cheers
    jet screamer

yes it does ink up I do have a bridge roller but it has been removed

Keep your dampener system oil and grease free. If you use a 2 step wash up the step one has lots of detergent. That's the best way to get oil and water to mix just add soap. Just use the second step and water to rinse rollers. Sad about the scratches in the chrome. Comet is abrasive stick to the chrome roller cleaner and gum, don't rub too hard. Clean both water form and metering with alcohol or metering roller cleaner by hand to keep them grease free. Any problems use the New Zealand contact info. on www.presspro.com

you said that it is only happening where the scratchces are on your chrome roller. You've just dialed in on it. Chrome needs resurfacing in my opinion. You will never buff those scratches out. Had the same problem on a 6/40 I was running. Red unit only. Blamed it on ink, stripes, speed, chemistry, etc... Ended up being the minute scratches on the chrome. Sent it out, resurfaced and voila.

hey, i have the problem on an old 226 you may want to check your oss rollers to make sure no oil is spitting out on your chrome.

also after cleaning with chrome cleaner. buff the the roller with a rag real well. then put some prisco or like plate cleaner on chrome an buff out. works well for me. every morning its a ritual.

hi i had similar problems onL428 usually happens using old fount with new type plates ctp eg. changed to low alc fount now spotless

  • The scatches in the chrome are your problem, using comet will only make it wrost, desenitize the chrome untill it is resurfaced
