Multiart silk

Hey.

Currently we have serious issues running this type of media, its causes contamination on the photoreceptor after only 2000-3000 prints, the problem has been bugging us on both our igen3's for several months, but the last 2 weeks it has gotten far worse.
When i run on Multicopy offset paper the machine can print for a week without any contamination, it seems like there is some chemical in the silk paper that slowly accumulates on the PR belt.

Anybody who has experienced the same problem?

Hi Neess,

It sounds similar to an issue I had with a stock from Mohawk called i-Tone, which was developed for digital presses. We came to find that it's list of preferred digital presses excluded the iGen3. The issue wasn't a chemical on the sheet necessarily, but more because the fuser fluid wouldn't fully absorb into the sheet on the first pass. So on the duplex pass, fuser fluid would deposit onto the PR Belt, leading to contamination of the belt.

You can't clean the stuff off without damaging the belt, so you'll just have to replace it.

My other thought is that you may want to replace the wick & metering blade on your RAM assembly in the fuser area. We've also had issues creep up when the metering blade starts to expire & too much or too little fuser fluid is disbursed onto the fuser roll.

Just found this old thread, we still fight this problem everyday with multiart silk which is our primary stock. Cant be fuser since it also happens on simplex, Nobody having similar issues??

Vi har en 4`er. Vi har haft lignende problemer med multiart silk. Vi kører på tom & otto silk nu uden de store problemer, har dog aldrig oplevet de problemer du beskriver. Meeen en 3`har dog også en del børnesygdomme, ooh hvilken lettelse det var for mig og begynde og arbede med 4`eren istedet for 3`eren.

We have a 4. We have had similar problems with Multiart Silk. We are running on empty & otto silk now without any major problems, however, have never experienced the problems you describe. But a the 3 does have some teething problems, ooh what a relief it was for me to start working on the 4 instead of the 3. (Better post my answers in english to, so people dont feel left out).

Jeg synes umiddelbart også problemet er meget ekstremt, det underlige er at det også sker på vores Nuvera - som kører med fotobælte i stil med Igen3. Xerox har eskaleret sagen for lang tid siden, men der findes ingen umiddelbar løsning, jeg hørte det sker flere steder i europa.
Ja det kunne være nice med en Igen4 istedet - nu får jeg 2 HP indigoer at lege med istedet, så mon ikke det giver et behageligt afbræk.

Lad mig gætte - du er fra DGJ? det stemmer i hvertfald med at de fik opgraderet til en 4'er og deres 3'er blev rykket til århus ;-)

Indigo'erne har deres egne små spidsfindigheder som du skal have ind under huden, men efter en 2-3 måneder vil du elske det

The Indigo's come with their own set of problems, pretty steep learning curve the first couple of months, but i think you will love it!

Neess nej er ikke fra DGJ. Arbejder hos formula tryxager, vi har to stk igen4 en med online lakværk, da vi har meget produktion der skal have påført lak.

Funny reading this old post again.. The printers Smooth operator was talking about is now a part of the shop im the managing still got my multiart silk problem though.

(translation) Just found this old thread will just add that we do here in Funen country have had the same problem with Multiart Silk, both our iGen3 and iGen150. It was like something film on the belt, when we had run get 1000 sheets ...... We did not want to fight more with it, so on our standard papers we went over to Galerie Art from Antalis,
It helped that it runs only, and does not change PR belt near as often as 1-2 times a week, depends on how much of the thicker special paper I should ha 'through Print Essen. (end translation)

Fandt lige denne gamle tråd, vil bare tilføje at vi hernede på fyns land, har haft samme problem med Multiart Silk, på både vores iGen3 og iGen150. Der sad ligesom noget film, på bæltet, når vi havde kørt få 1000 ark......Vi gad ikke slås mere med det, så på vores standard-papirer gik vi over til Galerie Art fra Antalis,
Det hjalp, det kører bare, og skifter ikke PR belt nær så ofte, 1-2 gange om ugen, kommer an på hvor meget af det tykkere specialpapir jeg skal ha' igennem PrinTsessen.
