    Hi guys & girls

You'll have to bear with me as I have no experience in printing so I'll try and explain this the best I can. It may be a bit of a ramble....

I work for a company that have just purchased an Epson 4880 modified to carry UV ink and instead of being roll fed it has a flat bed as we're using it to print onto aluminium panels.

This question is more concerning printing white. Part of the modifications are to the ink delivery system and it is fed from larger reservoirs and carries C, M, Y, K, LC, LM & white. The printing is controlled via UltraRIP which is "produced" by Honosoft. It's not the greatest pieces of software but I think it's one of the few that allow you to change the ink colours that are available.

We have managed to input jpg images from the web into UltraRIP and printed in full colour with white using the "Substrate & Spot" setting within UltraRIP.

Now, ideally, we need to produce something in Corel Draw X6 to produce logo's and panel artwork etc. From what I understand this involves generating a colour pallet to trigger the rip software to print certain colours as white.

Does anyone have any experience with the above or could possibly point me in the correct direction? Any help would be most appreciated.

    Many thanks

    James

We use Acrorip to print on our 4880 flatbed. The machine is from China so we got the rip from there also.
    Very cheap 300 us dollars.

Be careful with white ink shake the cartridges everyday. And you must print a Nozzle Check EVERY SINGLE DAY otherwise head will clog.

Interesting in buying such a machine !

Hi, interested in buying one of these machines modified to print white.
Can you let me know which company you buy it from? Any feedback?

We are based in Singapore, and I would like to add printing on composite aluminium panels so this would be perfect if reliable enough.

    Thanks in advance.

I used to use wasatch for spot colour replacement / white ink printing. As long as its a vector file it's very easy (with wasatch). But what a nightmare the white ink was for the print head... Dailly purging and cleaning....

    Yep, what about zillions ;-)

More seriously, if your experience is good with them, I would avoid painful process of selection and unexpected results ;-)
