Hello guys,

We are having problem on our Man Roland 304 with the Error 74. (plata change on black unit)

Restart and the problem goes away for some time but has been increasing by the days/weeks.

Is the motor going bad, or is this a sensor, or adjustments need to be made?

Any help would be most good.

Hi,
Error 74 indicates the wrong positioning clamping motor. in your case, please check the potentiometer and the drive belt for any damage/loosing. most probably the potentiometer is defective.

    Thank you Asim,

I saw the same problem on this chat board some time ago.

There was some adjustments or calibrations needed on the unit.

Is it a big deal to change out the potientiometer?

I think you don't need any adjustment if the potentiometer is defective. yes, if you want to change it you have to dismantle the complete clamp from the cylinder then you may need to calibrate all the motors with the CPL tools disk before installing it back.

Anyone can recommend where to get servo motor for Roland 304P Printing machine?
I need 400N 750W AGV Hybrid Step Servo Drive DC Servo Motor With Encoder.

Check the status of the motor and potentiometer with the cpl tools program

If we change out the potentiometer - does it not require to do some adjustmest or calibration?

We have a new potentiometer in house.

We change out one motor in the unit (clamp motor) and the problem went away for 2-3 weeks. Then the same again (error 74)

yes, you have to calibrate all motors in the clamp with the CPL tools disk.

74 is a clamp motor error. Potentiometer position and plate thickness need to be adjusted.

Can i do an automatic calibration without any DOS to get rid of the 74 error?
The only solution for you can run the machine without fix, is to put the plate manually, and tight the bolts on the clamp, the Allen 6 bolts that lock the plate, and them you turn the machine and fit the plate manually on the holes.. But doing that you gonna loose all the adjstment of the clamp.... But you can run the machine and the register will work fine on the Unti until fix...

This kind of part you are asking is not Used in a Manroland Offset press, there is no step motor with encoder in any manroland presses

    No.
Potty position and plate thickness. Both must be done with mechanical tools. No with the click of a mouse. No automatic adjustment exists for them.
Aaa..... NO need DOS or Windows.
