Maintenance Plan on ABDick 9800/9810

We recently cancelled our monthly maintenance contract on our offset presses since we have enough downtime (damn economy and summertime,) for our press operator to handle. Does anyone know where I can find a good/accurate checklist for monthly maintenance on an ABDick 9800/9810 series?

I have a list I will need to copy and send to you. I am off campus right now but when I go in for summer school session I will make you a copy.

  • I have trained operaters and other personal in this industry for decades, how about testing your operators and ask them to put together a list and we'll see how much they know and then we as a community will help you out from there and hopefully your operators will have an open mind to learn. to many operators that i have seen over the years have bad habits and don't want to change which is so sad, but thats the way people are.

LOL - sorry but you outsourced maintenance??
In 80th I was tradesman at AB Dick and sold some 360...but none of my customers had a contract. They did itself.

Hi Rossio - Yes we outsourced maintenance to a great company called Graphics Systems Services. Yes my press operator knows how to clean his ABDick (per the video you suggested I watch). We had a contract with GSS to come in every other month to oil/lubricate the press, do any adjustments that need doing etc. I was merely asking for help on what monthly/bimonthly maintenance should be done, not daily cleaning and upkeep. I'm sure outsourcing maintenance is not that uncommon if there are several companies in my area that are in business doing just that. :-/

I knew of companies that did this too, the advantage is, as you have said, that while they're oiling etc, they can make small adjustments for roller pressures and what not. I've always been responsible for the upkeep of maintenance tasks and adjustments as part of my job as a printer where-ever I've worked. It isn't that difficult once you get used to doing it and most oiling points and greasing points are usually marked with a red dot on the oiling point or a green dot for greasing etc.. Once your printer gets used to doing it, it'll save you a few quid (sorry, dollars!) if he just keeps on top of it. You could fly me out to Florida once a month if you like, I don't mind doing that for you at all :-) !!

LMAO Tommy, I'm sure my boss would think that's a much more cost effective plan... But I'd love to be able to share the Florida sun and fun.
