long full color runs

We currently are printing 65,000 newsletters every month on 11 x 17 70# white offset 4/4. They get folded in half then thirds for mailing. My question is how does a Xerox machine do on something like this or is it not practical to do it on a digital machine? We also print 2000 124 page perfect bound books on 80# gloss txt with 100# cover about twice a year. Just looking at going all digital and streamlining everything but asking a salesman is like buying a new car, greatest machine ever and yes it will do it all and perfectly so thought I would go to the end user and get comments.

the xerox can do your work with no trouble ,but unless you are doing variable data or have on-line finisher on the xerox.. I would stick to the press...and NOT PAY FOR CLICKS

Agreed with swifty.

It should do it fine, especially offset paper. but if a run that big is not variable, youre kinda defeating the purpose of using a digital press. though, Ive been known to do large static runs like that... its only because of a scheduling or paper constraint with one of our offsets. the cost can get scary.

If you have multiple vesions of this newsletter, it can pay off, however.

and I 100% agree with your statement about xerox salesmen.

I lost 10 yrs of my life with Xerox Highlight color, because they told our mgmnt it was a "Whole new engine" what a crock of crap. I still remember that day. Came in and saw a docutech sitting in place of a docutech we just got rid of LOL. I wept.....and didnt stop until last year when they finally removed the last one lol.

I'd say offset on the newsletters. If you need to address them you can get an address printer that uses liquid ink and mailing software.
