Hi everyone. I'm currently a 10 colour litho operator with 25 years of litho experience, still young in the trade at 42 I have an interview for a job in rotogravure and just trying to swat up a bit. Have any of you gone from litho to rotogravure? If so, was learning the process straightforward?

I've seen both in action (with more hands-on litho exp) - honestly the Gravure looks much simpler. just an ink tray, analox cylinder and the RotoG-plate cylinder. Not to say this employer's could be much different. But for the web presses we were running (label printing) it looked pretty easy. No ink roller train, no keys or color adjustment (analox), you just popped on the plate to the roller and put the assembly in the press. And you just needed to wipe clean or change the analox after - and the ink tray if you were switching colors. Our screen-print roller units were basically the same deal. and the Flexo stations too - though the plates were much different.

EDIT: i should clearly state i was not a pressman on these machines. it LOOKED easy, but for all i know it could be a royal pain-in-the-a**
