Life expectancy and duty cycle of imagePRESS C1

I haven't been able to find anything about the life expectancy or duty cycle of the imagePRESS C1 and wanted to know if any of you folks had a clue either from experience or knowledge.

Don't expect much in terms of duty cycle. I love the print quality of my C1+ but it has not been reliable and needs tons of service. Here in Boston, Canon Business Solutions simply isn't equipped to service the machine. They seem to have neither the manpower nor the know-how. After a year and a half, and about 120k color clicks, the machine has been down for the better part of two weeks. Caveat emptor.

This was my experience too. I kept the machine for about a year. The machine had MAYBE a 60% uptime. The folks I had servicing where very helpful. They replaced nearly all the guts, but in the end, they blamed it on my environment being too warm, claiming it needed to be below 76 degress.


When i printed, I kept the machine rolling (5k clicks at a time). If I had done smaller loads, I think it may have been ok.

All in all, not worth the price they were asking.

Mine is 3 years old, done 153428 Colour Clicks & 400992 B/W Clicks and 2 years to go on rental agreement and the company who sold me the machine will not honour the service agreement stating they are loosing money it breaks down so much. This machine is more down than up along with other ones I know.

Our experience with the C1 is similiar to above, it produces nice output but needs a lot of service. My opinion is 3,000 sheets a week would be the most you would want to plan on for output.

It does perform better with low room temperature and humidity. We have experienced this directly and now we cool down the room for 1-2 hours before we run the machine.
