Large Ludlow Typograph Brass Matrix Font Library + 2 Composing Sticks

Offered for sale is a large vintage Ludlow Typograph brass matrix collection from a former letterpress print shop.

This lot includes:

• Multiple trays of original Ludlow brass matrices
• Uppercase and lowercase alphabets
• Numbers and punctuation
• Blank/spacing matrices
• Two original adjustable Ludlow composing sticks
• Original storage trays

The matrices appear to be organized by font and character frequency, with many trays containing complete or nearly complete alphabets, numbers, and punctuation. I am not a Ludlow expert, so I have not attempted to identify every typeface or point size. The collection has been left exactly as it was found.

The matrices are brass (non-magnetic) and are the correct Ludlow profile for use in a Ludlow Typograph hot-metal line casting system.

These Matrices were from a family members private collection/basement print shop. I have not cleaned or polished anything.



The collection has not been inventoried character by character, and I cannot guarantee every font is 100% complete. However, many trays appear to contain substantial uppercase, lowercase, numeral, and punctuation sets.
