I have a Bizhub C550 but I bought it broken with shipping damage - All that I can say if from what I have seen looking at the machine it looks to me to be build not so good - Frame Plastic door's ect look like thay could have been built better if you ask me.

I have worked on Canon and Kodak & Xerox and they seem better built.

A C550 is different from a PRO C 500. The C550 is an business office printer, while the PRO C 500 is a production printer. I bought used in 2008, shipped from Colorado to Texas, set it up and it ran perfectly the first time. Have not had any problem since. Trying to sell only to liquidate my business and retire.

The pros are: The print quality is excellent for the age of the machine (still matches some of the newer production machines). It uses Konica Minoltas' Simitri toners, so it has a good, smooth finish.
The speed is good (obviously at 50ppm), but the warm up time is a little slow.
When used in conjuction with the EFI Fiery, using Command workstation helps resolve a lot of printing conflicts.

The cons are: It has a long warmup time.
It also is a bit tricky to use if you're not used to it.
The double siding registration is prone to going out, especially if you're using heavier grade Silk Gloss.
Has real problems handling 128gsm silk gloss.
