Kompac has been around for years - kompac dampeners must be on thousands and thousands of presses.

I know Kompac has also rolled out a large standalone coating machine as you say. But when the link above was posted in 2006 the kwik kote was being marketed as an affordable press-add-on that applies aqueous coating directly to the blanket from the bottle - seeming to leverage on their years of R&D for their legendary dampeners in many ways I would think.

New Kompac Product: Kompac Kwik Koat

Fairfield, NJ – March 2006 - Kompac announces the release of the new Kompac Kwik Koat. This patented product applies aqueous and UV coatings in an even and precise film without the use of the ink train.

With minimal start up costs, the Kompac Kwik Koat allows the printer to increase profits and provide extra value and higher quality to their customer’s printed materials.

“Coating has become one of the fastest growing additions to the printer’s offering. Coating provides enhanced finishes and durability to the printed piece. Brochures, postcards, folders and other printed materials can resist scuffing or marking from bindery, shipping and mailing… Kompac’s Kwik Koat offers a kwik, and versatile coating process from a patented proven system” said Tom Hayes, General Manager of Kompac.

The new Kompac Kwik Koat easily installs on the press in minutes for standard Kompac Dampening System users. The Kompac Kwik Koat feeds coatings from the bottle and does not require the inker rollers to be engaged to operate. Clean up is also kwik and easy. Returning to standard printing is also kwik and easy. It is currently available for the Heidelberg GTO 46 & 52.

Just like the Automatic Dampening system, coating is “Simply Automatic” with the Kompac Kwik Koat.

Looks like the kwik kote may have taken a back burner to the much more expensive standalone machine now though.
