    Karat74 Printint Press

At www.imagemedia.com we currently don't have the rapida, but we have two karat74 printing presses. The printing quality is amazing. They also have a 3 sheet make ready which saves on paper costs. We primarily print http://www.imagemedia.com/products/p...d-printing.cfm postcards, http://www.imagemedia.com/products/b...d-printing.cfm business cards, and http://www.imagemedia.com/products/b...e-printing.cfm brochures and the color consistency is second to none. I hope this helps in your printing press search. You are also welcome to order a free sample pack if you would like to see the printing quality.

I have a pretty thorough understanding of all KBA machines. Ask away!
The Ra 74 (now replaced by the Ra 75) was always a pretty solid machine. It does not share the same electronics as the Ra 105 or newer Ra 106 rahter has more in common with the older Ra 104.
The ink fountain and gripper designs on ALL KBA presses are second to none.
Make no mistake though, the Karat is not a true KBA press as the concept was from Scitex. I believe it is scheduled to be discontinued.

Hi there, we have a good relationship with KBA and we have heard nothing of the sort. Do you have evidence of this? I have two KBA 74's for sale and was basically looking to expand my contacts for worldwide installations.
The 74 is an amazing machine and they would be barking mad to discontinue it.
    Many thanks
    Steve

In old 105 (362XXX; 364XXX; some with serial number 367XXX) are in use:
    ALV - Delivery extension
PWHA - semi automatic plate hanger
    PWVA - automatic plate changer
    NSA - Non-Stop working feeder
ACS - dirty air exhaust on delivery (in use on UV machines)
    CX – Cardboard Equipment

There is allot of shortcuts, you can write what you want to know.

    Good job hellboy.
In addition, SW refers to a perfector.
KBA designates the unit that the perfector is after while Heidelberg uses the unit that the perfector is before. ie - a KBA Ra 105 6 SW2 is a 2 over 4 perfector while a Heidelberg SM 102 SW3 would be a 2 over 4 machine I believe.

In KBA printing Presses is always printing unit before perfecting with perfecting, it means in RA 105 – 4 SW 2 when all PU are separate perfecting is always with PU2 - - > PU2 is Perfecting Printing unit SWDW .
In Electrical diagrams you can have problems with shortcuts:

    NR - Nonstop carriage
    BG - Sheet decurler
    DR - Diagonal register
    FFE - Format remote setting
    BDK - Sheet travel detection
    PWHA - Semiautomatic plate changer
    WE - Washing fixture
    GL - platform fan
PWVA - Fully automatic plate changing
TRIRTL - Drier (infrared + air)
    SR - Lowering carriage
    ELW - Mounting varnish unit
    460V - North america 460V/60Hz
    FD - Lightweight stocks
    SL - Pile-logistics
    ALV - Delivery extension
TLS - Drier with control console connection
    PAS - Powder extraction
BLS - Spray gun with control console connection
    LS - Air cabinet
    SW - Turning
    CX - Cardboard machine
    DD - Heavy board
    50Hz - 50Hz mains frequency
    60Hz - 60Hz mains frequency
