KBA Rapida 106 – transferring print jobs via USB flash/Cfast drive

Hello :)

Recently, we have been experiencing an issue with our KBA Rapida 106. The mGuard module occasionally freezes and shows a red status. As a result, CIPLink can still detect the press, but the press itself does not receive a DHCP address from our network and therefore cannot access the folder from which it normally retrieves CIP data.

We discovered that logotronic has an option to work with local files. However, we have not been able to find where those files are stored or how to change the path to the local files.

The only thing we found was a CFast slot in the computer containing a flash card similar to those used in Heidelberg systems. We assumed that the jobs shown under the "Local" section might be stored on that card, but we are hesitant to remove or modify it because we do not know its exact purpose.

Could someone who has encountered this issue please advise?

Is it possible to use a standard USB flash drive to transfer jobs to the press?
What is the purpose of the CFast card installed in the computer?
Alternatively, how can CIP files be transferred from CIPLink to the press when the network connection is unavailable?
Unfortunately, the manual only mentions that this is possible, but does not provide any details.

And please excuse me if my terminology is not entirely correct — this is my first experience working with a KBA press.

Hello,
In response to your query:
Is it possible to use a standard USB flash drive to transfer jobs to the press? Yes it is possible
Follow the following steps:

- Save jobs from CIPLINK computer on the USB (but be careful because moving USB on different computers can bring a virus into the machine computer)

- Connect USB stick on the Computer / Backside of the monitor (TouchScreen Panel)- On the Machine console keyboard, navigate to General -- Load job -- rest of the procedure is same as if the CIPLINK is connected

Advice: The CIPLINK computer and machine computer network should be isolated from the other networj in your company, this way you will not face this problem again and again
Network disconnection: There might be Virus in the network, and that will disturb the connection, easy solution is restart the CIPLINK computer and it might work. and run a virus scan on the machine computer (but be very carefuly, becaue it can crash the Hard drive.

Troubleshoot the MGUARD RED LED Error
- External network issue - Your company network has issue
- Check the network cables and restart the mguard
- From CIPLINK computer
PING machine network (IP>>>>>) i hope you know the mguard IP
If you receive request timed out. it means there is no handshake betwen the CIPLINK computer and machine. If cables and network is OK, restarting the CIPLINK computer will do the job
- Mguard utility application cn help to troubleshoot the network issue.

  • Hello!
Thank you for the detailed explanation. Following your advice, I managed to find that function on the KBA 105 Rapida. :)

Unfortunately, the KBA 106 Rapida has a completely different interface; it doesn't detect .ppf or .col files on the flash drive, nor does it allow specifying a direct path to them.

Mguard: we discovered that its built-in DHCP service keeps failing, so it requires a firmware update using the flash drive that comes with the unit.

Our printing press is isolated to prevent virus infections.

And just in case it helps someone else: we learned that the CFast card inside the Automation PC 910 handles the operating system license, so it must not be removed.
